I like it. It's less messy then last years Infiniti purple smeared all over the place. Lets see how it looks on track.

This suddenly brings up an interesting point about liveries.

The red on black theme was very much McLaren last year. With Red Bull going first with their reveals, what happens if, for example, McLaren's livery (minus the giant Bull) was virtually identical? Do teams have "back-up liveries" in case of a real embarrasing situation, or do the livery design teams for the various outfits actually check what everyone is doing to avoid it?

That is pearlescent matte paint and it is going to look awesome, just wish they had done the same to the Total red and logo too

What are the chances they will race with a matte finish paint job? I was under the assumption that gloss was used to improve airflow?

Matt finish. Nice! Only thing I dislike is the red at front- and rearwing. For me it seems like this is some other shade of red...

In 1990 there was something similar as you were reffering:

I hate the overalls, they look like paintball uniforms. The car is a bit meh, but kudos to them for, 10 years later, trying something different

In the early 80's, McLaren and Alfa Romeo had very similar liveries too
