... My goddamn head hurts just reading this. Let alone trying to follow it live and comprehend its stupidity.

It's just downhill from now on guys, F1 is truly digging its grave.

These are blind knee-jerk reactions to find solutions to spruce up the sport and could ultimately result in being very complex sport for the average F1 fan and the rules continue to add on.

The big issue for me is simple - you lock people into making sure their banker is good. With the current system, if you --- up your banker, you get a do-or-die final lap. This system just chucks you out immediately for screwing up the first time.

The only advantage I see is that it means there will be a clear track for the final runners, but if those final runners are not the ones who are really the quickest, it's likely still going to be crap.

As much as I condone genocide based on arbitrary selection criteria I think this would be difficult to implement. :wtf:

They'll be queuing up to 'do a Rosberg'.

I am praying they wait until 2017 to implement this crap. That gives them a year to undo to the decision.

It probably is a radical decision in making the sport more exciting, because let's be honest. How big is the chance we would see Mercedes dominating again? The chance is big. Unless it's a dry race and it's not Monaco streets, chance for a Mercedes front row lock out is huge.

The new format creates confusion. Everyone needs to be on top of his/her game. Whether you are in the car, on the pit wall or in the box. That's a fact.

It's big, I agree, but I'd rather see two Mercedes battling each other as pretty much most of 2015 and 2014, then have them split by some rule designed to add some lottery element to the starting order of the cars.

Then again, thanks to the grid being shaken up, we'd see quicker cars out of position battling through the traffic in order to win, but I still think it would be a highly fake outcome, especially if the WDC race is tainted by it. And there are so many unknowns too. What if there's a yellow flag, what if someone has a puncture, what if someone in the quickest car comes up the slowest one and they're all going for it, so no blue flags and both their times are then ruined because they held each other up? On so many levels, I see problems and then on top of that, this exciting new qualifying format would need to be marketed properly so that the average TV viewer knows what is happening and why (assuming it can be explained in a coherent way that would make sense -> doubtful).

You know what? If the sole aim is to cause havoc on the starting grip; i actually have a much more simpler way that's a lot easier to understand and yields a very similar result. How about... they all just pick straws?
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

Your way would be safer....
These proposed rules make an accident much more likely during qualifying.

Thank God. With any luck, the competition between Ferrari and Mercedes will be close enough in the meantime that qualifying will be very exciting (close competition is all the current format needs) and the powers that be will then call the change off altogether.
