Why don't you make it so that you are only as good as your last ten posts?

This way you encourage users to consider every post they make, and you don't discourage occasional users like me...

Suggestion - remove all voting powers from the member(s) who upvote almost every post made in a Williams thread. To me this is by far the most prominent example of voting abuse on this site.

I've also noticed this. It's an anomaly. Check out the average percentage posts with votes.

We are working on that particular problem. We had a similar (although unrelated) case at one of the Red Bull threads; somebody just went a bit too enthousiastic with the upvote button.

Well, I don't think so Steven, & certainly not in this instance..

But as for my posts being "interesting.." ok, sure, - that is intentional.. l.o.l...

Perhaps if every 'reputation vote' auto-included the voter's ID?
Then those who persist with dubious/opinionated votes will be 'outed' - as abusers of the system?

& has it been made more egalitarian yet?
So that all registered members - have the same voting opportunities?

Ok, so voting options are unchanged, & remain fundamentally unfair IMO..

I get a to award a single daily up-vote, & zero down-votes, yet I may be subject to bogus & anonymous down-votes given
for clearly emotive reasons, even if it is spuriously labeled as one of the 'stock' putative technical reasons.

Why is it that those unable to issue a down-vote.. are none-the-less haplessly subject to them?

It simply aint right, natural justice-wise.. & is an 'elephant in the room' of 'reputation', since it rewards bias..

& how come that lousy single up-vote has to be used daily, or lost?
Why can't they be 'banked' or accumulated - for use when a number of fitting posts appear in close succession?

- That's how it works
- That's how it was agreed among a number of long-term members and mods
- That's how we decided to limit votes
- Everyone is subject to downvotes to avoid them spawning nonsense continuously

Well Steven, the system "works" for the privileged, sure, just as it did for the nobility of France - until 1789..

But it simply aint right.. & clearly needs reform.. not that the turkeys will vote for Xmas, of course..

My god, JAW... . Next you'll involve Marx and the proletarian concept. Your reasoning is completely flawed:
-The reason why you can only upvote once a day and not downvote is because your reputation is too low. 98% of the people who joined around the same you did have a better reputation and have more voting options. The 2 other % failed to do so because they contributed nonsense on a constant base. None of 100% was given any privilege: all earned it themselves.
-If you want to earn more voting options, then you'll have to start looking at yourself. What do I post? Why are my posts not getting upvoted? Have I sticked correctly to the guidelines of the forums? The greatest argument why this is not a privilege is because you have that in your own hands! Yes, on occasion a downvote is wrongfully given. In such cases, the moderators will correct if informed. However, those cases are exceptions. Most of the time downvotes are rightly given.

So please stop moaning. You have complained a lot, but I have not readed ANY proposal towards a solution of what you think is the problem. Other members here atleast have gone through the effort to propose something atleast.

Oh, that's right, it is for - suggestions about updating the voting system..

I have received dozens of upvotes for my contributions, unfortunately/improperly this has been matched
by down-votes given for bogus, non-technical reasons.

That an elitist cabal can functionally do this.. clearly shows there is an overt flaw in the system.. surely.

& when certain posters who quite evidently have a shallow technical grasp, but gain multiple up-votes for
populist/gimmick type posts, it does tend to debase the system.

All I ask if, that this forum follow norms, 1 member - 1 vote, reason for vote must be' technical'& no anonymous votes.
There's a 'suggestion' ( & anyhow, unless faults are pointed out, how can reforms be identified as worthwhile? ).
