Why are people fixated with 100% should yield the fastest time?

We have no clue what was the fuel load that Mclaren were running. For all we know they could have been doing the full power run with a lot gas in the tank so it is not visible on the time sheets.

I don't think so. Alonso was very clear. He said "It's funny to me when I hear or read that we run with a detuned engine. This can't happen nowadays. I remember doing these things with de V10, increasing the RPM from 17.000 to 17.200, stuff like that."

Maybe the real power gains come from practically running the engine off detonation. It would require unbelievably strong components and heat would always be a factor.

I have been talking to a very known and reaible source.....he said there will be many changes to power unit from last day of testing to AUS, i asked how is that possible whit the homologation set, he said you can do many changes on software side, some on reability grounds, and you can also use some tokens already in AUS.

That's true.

Honda has "Back-homologated" the engine so they have room to apply token before the season starts.

According to Autosport's report, Mclaren was running on heavy fuel loads on day 2 of second day that's why they couldn't improve their time with softer tires.

This Honde Engine thread has become a deliberate discussion of testing, car and speculation about almost anything. Shouldn't the discussions about such thing be in the team thread?

Given the development of the Honda engine and the journey they are on, surely references to relative performance to give us info on said development is required from time to time?

He said this today......
"In terms of performance, I think we need to still unlock a lot of performance in the engine because we ran, let's say, a little bit conservative now to have the reliability,"

Well, we don't know anything about the Honda PU. All we know is that ALO is playing and messing around.

Google translate:

"The Honda V6 turbo is yet to commit to performance." A little will come before Melbourne by the software, "promises McLaren team boss Eric Boullier. Honda will now know the secret of the Mercedes engine. To the need to copy it at least 7 tokens. "

Copying the mercedes engine with 7 tokens?
or would they need 7 more tokens to copy?
Are they trying to copy?
