Guy Martin's 'Wall of Death'

Post

live on TV yesterday evening GM rode a lap of his specially large WoD at 78 mph and 6.7g
(on a BSA special)

well done, that man !!!
his 6.7g being much harder physiologically than 6.7g (lateral) would be, eg at Silverstone in some hypothetical Newey wonder
it will never be beaten except by someone using a fighter pilot-type 'g' suit (also used in Red Bull air races)
or someone using an 'Easy Rider' or squidlike posture
or maybe breathing oxygen or pre-breathing like a free diver

apologies if this topic has been posted elsewhere

I take it you mean this one?

Interesting to note it was a world record attempt, so quite an achievement.

And the bike:

With a little video...

The bike he set the record on wasn't that Indian; he set it on a home-baked bike. He used the Indian for the first attempt.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

You could tell that Guy Martin got a little peeved with the host trying to big up the danger and especially at the end when Guy wanted the 80mph mark and was prevented by the host wanting to break for adverts.

GM has a pair..

Set up appears to be a bit like the infamous 'board track' velodrome motorcycle racing - of over a century ago..
"Well, we knocked the bastard off!"

Ed Hilary on being 1st to top Mt Everest,
(& 1st to do a surface traverse across Antarctica,
in good Kiwi style - riding a Massey Ferguson farm
tractor - with a few extemporised mod's to hack the task).

The only downside is that its not going to be hard to beat the record.

All it needs is somebody to build a wall with a larger diameter to reduce the G.

How long until CERN is decommissioned....?
