Honda Power Unit Hardware & Software

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

When the target is moving, I guess it will be like this-
Last year it was this year
this year is over, now it's next year
Sound like broken records playing over
At least there wont be any tokens next year, so hopefully no next year bs in 2017. (sorry to be off topic)

In Short: Merc Type Pre Chamber Injection Magic at Canada. Compressor out of the V in 2017. Nothing new, just from a mildly reliable Source.
This is in line whit what a well known source says...only he says Canada is "pushing it"
Honda wants time and race 11 is a safer bet.

It is my personal opinion that Arai-Hasegawa change(which also ment developmet team change) means that 2016 is lost for Honda....they will focus on ICE but 2017 will be their main focus from now on.

From what I dimly remember Hasegawa indicated that he'd be following the Arai plan then switching development paths for 2017 or something along those lines. 2016 isn't lost from an engineering point of view, plenty of data can be gathered, they can experiment with different engine maps, harvesting techniques and so on. All useful for 2017. It's a loss in terms of the racing but sometimes you have to suffer in F1 before you start winning. Which I still think is a long way off under normal racing conditions.

He didn't say what he would be doing in 2017 only that a layout change would not happen this year.

I'm not sure where the interview was, BBC?

I read this like that big step for race 11 was postponed to 2017... ("skunk works" aka non-Arai group different turbo layout)

pre-stage to pre chamber magic in Canada says AMUS.
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

Pre-chamber is the in talk these days.. just like Turbo it he V was in 2014, and bigger MGUH was in 2015. We are the trendsetters on this site.. whatever we talk about the media sensationalizes it.

F1i.com - Hasegawa:
The Russian Grand Prix weekend will provide Honda with an opportunity to further unlock its power unit's potential which the manufacturer's F1 boss - and McLaren - believe is big.

"Sochi remains a demanding track for us," explains Hasegawa.

"The long straights combined with the stop and start nature mean the balance of energy management is essential to get right during the sessions.
Let's hope it turns out to be true :D [-o< [-o< :D

one major problem for mclaren the tyres deg...is off for this gp....i think this will be the best race on this season so far on performance side....and with little good luck maybe the best results.....its very technical track......and driver can make differents.....for me sounds like honda and mclaren bring something every race .......

Lots of intresting stuff:
EB to Auto Hebdo:"Australia Spec had less power than Abu Dhabi 2015, Bahrein saw the return to Abu dhabi 2015 power level".
EB: "Honda still a long way off from Mercedes, we know it because we have the exact numbers"
According to Auto Hebdo: McLaren imposed to Honda to work with european engineers that were sent to Sakura in January.
The whole group is now working on a new version that's supposed to be introduced between Canada and GB. EB: "It's a bit of a bastard solution (meaning compromised/hybrid) but it will allow us to aspire to new ambitions in the second half of the season

EB seems to be very unhappy, and MC is trying to "help" Honda so that they sent engineers to Japan? For me it seems like MC don't trust Honda anymore.(I still can't understand why Honda is not willing to hire engineers from Ferrari/Mercedes/Renault.)

Its not about trust, its about accepting defeat, something Japaneses culture will never accept.

Define defeat, then clarify what should manufacturers do after defeat

Harakiri?

Or trying to solve your problems and improve?
