So after netting a reputable P5 in today's wet qualifying don't you think the chassis is pretty good?techman wrote:do u believe what EB says, they are feeding alonso all sorts of wrong info to keep him happy and we found out how much inefficient the chassis was in monaco, when mclaren were horrible in pace there after falsely claiming 3rd best chasssis, next hungary is a track we should look out for, and where they really are. alonso is talikng about thr low DF rear wing brought to baku,, infact all team brought low DF setup to baku, maybe they will bring it in austria
I think the P5 was more down to driver skill rather than the chassisPlatinumZealot wrote:So after netting a reputable P5 in today's wet qualifying don't you think the chassis is pretty good?techman wrote:do u believe what EB says, they are feeding alonso all sorts of wrong info to keep him happy and we found out how much inefficient the chassis was in monaco, when mclaren were horrible in pace there after falsely claiming 3rd best chasssis, next hungary is a track we should look out for, and where they really are. alonso is talikng about thr low DF rear wing brought to baku,, infact all team brought low DF setup to baku, maybe they will bring it in austria
I don't know exaclty, Alonso said two or three times that usually the tyres have to be new, not used.diffuser wrote:ripper wrote:They fitted used US on Alonso's car, very bad mistake.
Did they actually fit them or did they just use the ones from the previously abandoned lap in Q1 ?
Its was down to the driver, and there is no better driver in wets than jenson button, remember canada 2011 in a mclaren coming from way back to win the gp. Jenson has always excelled in wets , i am praying for rain in race tommorrow so hopefully more points for mclaren barring accidents. he is feels the grip much faster than any driver out there specially wet or changin conditions. hope mclaren sign him for next seasonSo after netting a reputable P5 in today's wet qualifying don't you think the chassis is pretty good?
Why are you so sure Monaco showed the chassis's potential? when Mclaren specifically stated they wouldn't compromise the low drag philosophy forced by the Honda and therefore suffered at Monaco much more than the teams with other power units.techman wrote:button is wet master, he adjust so well to changin conditions, give him an average car , he will still get the best out of it than any one out there in f1, i also remember jenson's BAR win a few years ago in hungary in wet conditions. Monaco showed where the mclaren chassis sits compared to rest. and its around 5th or 6th best at the moment, let wait and see in hungary in dry conditions.
Mclaren were running extreme downforce and had an extra days of testing in barcelona to prepare for monaco, mclaren even brought a double monkey wing and other bits to add downforce because it does not hurt to add downforce because its a circuit when power is the least dependant and that why Eric was predicting a podium in monaco before the race. however we all saw how much bad the pace was. only luck gave them the points, i have explained in my earlier posts. Why are you so sure Monaco showed the chassis's potential? when Mclaren specifically stated they wouldn't compromise the low drag philosophy forced by the Honda and therefore suffered at Monaco much more than the teams with other power units.
I dont think we can really deduce a chassis order from yesterdays qualifying. Even if Button got the absolute full potential out of his car and that lap, he was still 2 seconds behind pole.PlatinumZealot wrote:Button's driving style is to always drive within what he is given. He's a feedback kind of driver. He feels the grip that the car gives him, processes that with what he sees and adjusts accordingly. If the balance is good and there is grip, Button shines with the best of them. So let's not be so cynical, the chassis is good people.
The amount of rear wing that McLaren runs at full downforce is not as high as any of the top teams or middfielders, with the exception of STR.techman wrote: Mclaren were running extreme downforce and had an extra days of testing in barcelona to prepare for monaco, mclaren even brought a double monkey wing and other bits to add downforce because it does not hurt to add downforce because its a circuit when power is the least dependant and that why Eric was predicting a podium in monaco before the race. however we all saw how much bad the pace was. only luck gave them the points, i have explained in my earlier posts.
monaco is a circuit where you can bolt on donwforce even if you have a average engine but still be quick providing you have a well balanced chassis, this include, suspension, aero, brakes traction etc. Redbull is a perfect example.
Just look at williams, last year they struggle in monaco and this year we heard rob smedly saying they are going for extreme downforce setup but still there pace in monaco was horrible even with a MERCEDES engine, As you can see it not about adding extreme downforce but getting the chassis well balanced, which include suspension, aero, brakes, traction etc. Mclaren are in the same boat, this car is not balanced , that why drivers was complaining in practice that car is understeering and oversteering.
I hope mclaren improves fast so we can see them in the top. unfortunately for honda, there is no comparison unlike Renault where have a bench mark chassis and that is redbull but just look where renault f1 team are. They are over a second slower than redbull. all the gain throughs a good efficient chassis like redbull.
