Press releases put the track-only version on lmp1-performance. It'll be certainly not on the level of F1, but they are very much gunning for the fastest track-road-legal car

I'm going to guess you've seen the car lap a track quicker than an F1 car, sr71..

I'm interested in how much it is actual performance and not just appearance.

Time will tell, but with a V12 and much more modern aerodynamics I would definitely give it a shot.

I think it's safe to say this isn't the most beautiful Aston ever so it's also safe to say that most of what we see is performance driven.

Functional Beauty is what we are seeing here... I'd say less than 10% styling details are aesthetic driven, mostly the details that keep it in the AM design language family.

Holy Moly! The car literally is one huge diffusor. I wonder if Newey adds an EBD? With a V12 engine this should be doable.

I'm just saying it's obvious to anyone with knowledge of product development that this program started before mid-March as you and others have suggested.

But now we've all learned that press releases mean nothing with regards to program timelines. Learning something new is a good thing don't you think?

That diffuser is glorious. F1 as Newey has said is pretty basic and ancient when it comes to aero.

If you make them wide you either have limited lock or you need huge wheel bays. The former massively limits road use, the latter messes with the aero package. Also, wide tyres aren't great on road in the wet at normal (not much downforce) speeds.

The most beautiful Aston Martin ever, the DBR1, was a pure racing car...it was all performance driven.

It looks like Newey has made a road going MP4-98T, in effect.

Nothing there is "innovative" unless making a road-going race car is innovative. Which it isn't because it's been done before.

And how many fat Americans or Russian oligarchs are going to fit in it when the driving position is this:

It's a stunning piece of sculpture, no doubt, but it's nothing more than an aero designer's wet dream. The McLaren F1 was a road car game changer. The Veyron likewise. This is a race car in all but name.

And I want one.

And you are pointing at a shell of a car stating it a running car.

Pininfarina could knock that car up in 2 months flat.
