In FP1 he was doing consistent 37's with the medium tire but in FP2 he was started with 37's and did mostly low 38's when he ran the softs. Button was doing 35's in FP2 and low 38's in FP1. Hard to get a read, but I'm guessing 38's were done on heavy fuel. Hamilton was doing mid 36's and dipping into the 35's.
Realistically I'm expecting that McLaren will start with high 38's and work their way down to low 37's to mid 36's maybe a 35 by the end of the race. And I expect Mercedes to be about 1.2 seconds/lap faster on average. The degradation on the soft tire is pretty bad for McLaren, they seem to only be able to get 8 or so laps out of that tire before it starts degrading. They were quite reasonable with the medium tire. They may run S M H in the race, hopefully I won't end up SMH at their race.
Unless of course someone makes a mistake, I think both Alonso or Button can qualify inside the top 10. Finally they have a reason to run in Q3.
