Mc Laren may re-consider the policy of the smaller teams . Drivers pay for their seats , so maybe Ralf should offer 10 million $ in order to get the 2nd seat .
So here is the negotiations between Ralf and Dennis
Ralf I offer 10 millions
Dennis Let me think , no
Ralf what about 15 millions :?:
Dennis No again
Ralf Maybe a 100 millions :?:
Dennis ( FIA 100 millions fine ? ) Hmmm YES , YES , Only for Bahrain of course :!:

(Just a joke  , the pay-seat policy is not for a winning team such as Mc Laren)[/b]

I'd bet on Kovy, he's a quick and talented driver who in the last half of the season started to put it all together (unlike the first half of the season) he wasn't helped of course that he had a relative dog of a car.

Rosberg would be a good shot, but I can't see Williams letting him go, he seems happy there, like Lewis does at Mclaren, and if Williams want to move up the grid they need continuity. Nico will stay there for the long term I think (at least that's the plan, if the Williams doesn't improve he'll have to leave for the good of his career)

I think maybe there are a few too many unknowns about Sutil, purely because the poor sod had been lingering in a banger racer labeled "Spkyer" who've had more owners in the past year than British Leyland had companies!

Kovy on the other hand if fairly established concidering he's only got one season under his belt, he's quick, seems not to be quite so ego-centric as Fernando and so might work better with the =1 status' given at Mclaren. Fuether more what do Renault have to loose? Boot out Kovy to make way for their Golden Boy again? Not a bad deal, especially wqhen you consider there isn't a guilt value for Flavio, after all its not like he's booting Kovy out to some 2nd rate outfit is it now. All in all it just makes some sence.

Renault would love to have FA back, HK would probably like the chance to race a McMerc, Flavio gets to see his driver (Heikki is under Flavio's management program isn't he?) get a good seat, and Ron Dennis gets another Flying Finn in a Mclaren seat. And even Fisi keeps his seat. Everybody's happy.

The thing is, maybe, Renault invested too many years in Kovalainen, like McLaren did with Hamilton. He was part of Renault drivers development program. I imagine Renault dont want to let Kovalainen go that easily, maybe with a contract that says something like: "if Kovalainen is quick as Hamilton, McLaren should sent him back to Renault for 2009" Who knows?

If I where in McLaren i would consider Sutil, too, at least for a couple of tests to see if he is quick enough. This year he did well in that orange trolley, apart from that he is German, doesnt Mercedes want that?

At least TSN reported

(recently) Sutil's manager saying that Adrian is "firmly contracted" with Force India for 2008. If you take that at face value, then he's not going to play "second violin" to Hamilton in any scenario. Kovalainen, well, a month ago he wrote this in his column:
Heikki Kovalainen wrote:The next eight months are very important for my career. Wherever I go or whether I stay, I want to compete and put in the hard work with that team to win the championship.

Equal status with my team-mate is also important. I don't want to turn up in Australia if I know I can't win or fight for the championship.
There are two good seats left at this point, one with Hamilton, one potentially with Alonso. That's one heck of a dilemma, if equal treatment (and not only nominally) is the deal maker or breaker for him, with Flavio going about making statements about how teams must only have one prima donna at a time.

Not to be outdone with all the equality, Piquet Sr. has come out swinging in the defence of Jr., speaking for a Brazilian newspaper, A Tribuna. What can I say? In Formula One it seems to be an era of drivers seeking to be "more equal" than other drivers. Sound familiar?
Nelson Piquet Sr. wrote:It’s time for Nelsinho to show how good he is. He has to walk (into F1) thinking that whoever’s on the other side of the [Renault] pits will be outpaced. There’s no way around it, you’re either that good or not.

If Nelsinho races at Renault with Fernando and is able to beat him in their first qualifying session together, it would be a good start, a way to start demoralizing (Alonso).
RBR's Mateschitz appears uninterested but still seems pretty certain in his knowledge about what Alonso is after. Both of his team's drivers have given interviews to the effect that they're very secure in the knowledge that everything is going to plan with regard to 2008.
Dietrich Mateschitz wrote:If there is speculation in the Italian media that Alonso is about to sign for Red Bull, I can only say - I know nothing about that.

From what I hear, Alonso is speaking to other teams about a one-year only deal. Such a deal is out of question for us. We would prefer to wait a year and prove that we can build a car which is capable of attracting one of the best Grand Prix drivers for 2009.
Besides reflecting on his "relaxedness" about contractual matters with the Canberra Times, Webber offered this opinion - contrasting his rather different (and persistent) tone after the Japan GP this year - about Lewis Hamilton's efforts during 2007:
Mark Webber wrote:It's never been done before and probably won't be done for a long, long time. It was impressive.

He arrived at the top and you see a lot of drivers come in and waste those opportunities but Lewis didn't and he delivered for McLaren. His consistency was a bigger surprise.
All is not as it seems, that's for sure. There's so much of proverbial digestive byproduct flying about in the media at this point that surely some of it will eventually hit a fan. Oh wait, we're discussing it here. Yuck.

Edit: Ben_watkins, sorry to say this (Hakkinen is a fun chap and all that), but he's been pretty much off his game since 2001 or so, and pushing 40. Just compare what Mika did when he last tested with McLaren with Michael's recent antics. Not conclusive, but indicative enough and Hakkinen has drawn the obvious conclusion as well, retiring from racing for good.

I'm all for Heikki. The guy deserves a faster car, and he should be able to keep Lewis honest.

I completely agree with you on that, but also because that would allow Alonso and Piquet Jr. to partner up at Renault (possibly).

But Piquet Jr. hasn´t been with Renault for a decade as Hamilton was with McLaren. Alonso would have the most ¨advantage¨at Renault, since he has been there for many many years and has a great relationship with the entire team.

Sorry about the translation, I don't have much time. Some remarkable quotes, I'll try to complete it later.

[quote="Interview with Ron Dennis, by "El Tiempo" from Bogotá, 29/November/2007: Edmer Tovar"]

Who's gonna replace Fernando Alonso in 2008?

We haven't defined yet. We're not in a hurry. It could be Pedro de la Rosa. We have many options but I don't want to give names. The only think I know is we do not have to rush. We're working with Hamilton. Once we define his team partner's name, we'll also start to work with him.

...

What do you think about last drivers quitting McLaren with troubles?

I don't see we have had problems beyond normal. Actually, the only relationship that had a bad end was with Fernando Alonso. We would like for things not to end that way. However, there is nothing we can do now and we're thinking on 2008.

Do you think pilots are persons hard to manage?

I believe that Formula One driver's temperament is complicated because they're winners. Everyone who feel himself a winner, when he can't he react in a strong way. However, you cannot win at any cost. It's OK if his only goal is to win and they're contracted for that, but you have to know how to handle impulses and hard situations.

Could Piquet not go to Mclaren?

Problem with either piquet or Kovy is they are both Relative new comers to f1, that would leave Mclaren with 2 relativly inexperianced guys in the cockpits.... De la rosa is still there with experiance and won;t be expensive. It's a tougth one.

Well now it's all up in the air. I've just seen on itv-f1.com that Fisico is due to test (alongside Ralf lol) for Force India F1 (or as F1racing magazine has now nicknamed them; "fifi").

Does this mean that Fisi believes he could be booted out in favour of a Returning Alonso? or perhaps to make room for Nelson Piquet Jr.?

All I know is it adds yet another twist to an already crazy silly-season.
