Can anyone please explain why the delta to Merc is greater at Silverstone (around ~2.4 sec) compared to the other tracks? Silverstone is not a power sensitive track, more of a track with high and medium speed corners.

While Jenson was strong at Austria Alonso never actaully got an opportunity to show what he could do. Let's hope reliability is good all round tomorrow so we can compare.

button's rear wing detached in Q1 at silverstone, couldn't be repaired in time to get a proper run hence he ended up in P17
no comparison again despite button's favourite conditions
frankly I think there is nothing between them
to the optimist a glass is half full ; to the pessimist a glass is half empty ; to the F1 engineer the glass is twice as big as it needs to be

Its similar to last year where all team were more behind Merc than usual....last year Ferrari won the next race in Hungary although they were 1.7 or something like that behind in UK.

I think his time was set on the super soft tyre which explains the half second improvement from his qualifying

Some of the data collected from today’s programme will be used to aid the development of next year’s McLaren-Honda chassis.

Silverstone is also one of the longer tracks on the calendar...the longer the lap, the greater the delta.
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️
