Well it's arguably the most beautiful of all 2007 cars.
It was also the most reliable through the season.
We could discuss the espionage thing once again but the team and its performance have obviously suffered under the politics through the year. That said, it doesn't mean the engineers didn't work as hard as possible and they will all deserve this.
Ferrari won more races.
Ferrari set the most fastest laps.
Ferrari won the constructors championship.
Ferrari won the drivers championship.
It's been dicussed a lot but the fact they were caught cheating is a MASSIVE thing and it's also highly likely they used Ferrari ideas in their car. Why do you think next years car is to be constantly investigated!?
How could you possibly give 'car of the year' to McLaren?
well i think u only have to put it this way to prove that mclaren is the better car
if the season was to restart which car will to pick to drive to win the world championship?
obvious to say its definately mclaren
mp4-22 has got the best reliablity fast in any gp and fastest in canada usa monza monaco and possibly hungary and japan and in all wet conditions and more importantly it is an awsome qualy car and better at following cars
Define what is "BEST", when they say best car of the year?
Is it; the fastest, most reliable, best designed, nicest paint, best results, best team, least mistakes, most improved...?
I've compared the two cars design and their results\statistics in quite a bit of detail, I dont see how anyone can come to a clear conclusion on which is better. If you can then its the fanboy in you and not a balanced opinion.
both FA and LH lost by one point the overall package of mclaren is clearly better than ferrari
if massa hasn't let kimi through in brazil ferrari wouldn't have won the drivers world championship
i strongly disagree than FA and LH is better than kimi
let's establish some facts
FA is about as fast as trulli mayb faster in the reault days
ralf out score trulli in 2005 and 2006
JPM is clearly a bit better than ralf schumacher
and JPM and driver who loves oversteer in a oversteering car the MP4 20 struggle to keep up with Kimi
at 2004 both kimi and FA each had a great battle with Michael Schumacher and kimi was the one who won despite not having a better car than FA
than how can u say that FA is better than kimi
and let face it LH is also about as fast as LH
so ur saying that Kimi is slow and he's car did all the work for him?
i think the opposite, kimi won because he is better than FA and LH despite not having the absolute best car
that most of ferrari fans tend to forget that kimi won the Australian GP with an illegal car .ok it passed FIA's tests but was later deemed to be illegal due to the famous moving floor but results were not reconsidered...
And that the fact that during hungary gp mclaren were punished for alonso's tactics is never really taken into consideration when they (ferrari fans) form an opinion about the performance during the year.
Why can't you accept the fact that mclaren did a BETTER job than Ferrari in car design, even if McLaren had possession of detailed Ferrari docs & drawings. That makes it an even sweeter triumph for McLaren because when the 2 teams had the same knowledge (i'm ASSUMING that McLaren had ALL ferrari's info about bridgestone tyres ) McLaren were able to provide a quicker car. I mean come on, at the highest downforce circuit on calendar - Monaco, everyone was lapped except Massa though he was a distant 69s behind. Doesn't that tell you smthg ??
Also people tend to forget or simply avoid the fact that McLaren were punished even though no proof of any single component was copied or implemented on the car itself. They were handed the penalty for withholding
information about the number of people who knew about the 780-page folder, big deal.
and before someone turns this into an off topic discussion, i was only questioning the way some people form their opinion, not those people themselves.
Thank you for bearing with me. I'm just so tired of favoritism and polticising the sport I so love and enjoy so that some team can be propelled into top position. It is true I am a hardcore McLaren fan, but I have no problem with not winning when another team outperforms them on track, it is the interference and double standards that is being conducted these days that drives me ever away from following the sport. but then a new season kicks off and I kind of regain hope of a better show, regardless of the final outcome.

Interviewer: The most exciting moment during the race weekend? Kimi: I think it's the race start, always. Interviewer: The most boring? Kimi: Now.
says you....the radical F2007, which many ppl said was an ugly car, was the most beautiful car of 2007, and after that id put the Renaults. Cheaters are excluded, eat dung Mclaren

Well i think its a concelation prize for Team Mclaren Mercedece Benze , yeah we know they did cheat etc , but still are humans and need some sore of appreciations to have some sort of feeling that would help them be together .
Mclaren were totally smashed this season , its like taking a kid to a huge candy store where everything is free for the kid , but its not allowed to get anything by the end of the day . I really felt sorry for them , overall Mclaren worked slighlty better than the ferrari's this season, even though they did copy the materials from ferrari .
Both the cars were pretty balanced in speed.Ferrari car suited the medium downforce tracks, whereas the McLaren car suited to low and high downforce circuits. So in that case they were pretty evenly matched.
I guess the only advantage that McLaren had over Ferrari is their reliability and strong pit work(except Hungary),whereas Ferrari suffered many reliability failures(as many as 5) and some horrible team work(Canada,Hungary).
In that case I believe McLaren deserved the best car of the year accolade.Forget all the spying controversy and the Hungary issue. If we consider on track over all performance,McLaren were stronger.

They were caught using data given to them by official Ferrari team member that still isn't found guilty of stealing at any court.
If you judge by rumors like FIA does, than keep in mind that Ferrari also used data given to them from MC, so if you search for fairness that neither Ferrari F2007 can find its place in talk about car of the year (not to mention flexing floor).
Regardless on FIA rulings people can admire certain car because FIA rulings are just rulings and not the unquestionable truth. That's the bottom line and there's no need to rub red paint over face of anyone who disagrees with bashing and abuse of Mclaren by FIA, Italian justice system and police during 2007.
