Hamilton looses Licence.

Post

Lewis Hamilton has been fined 600 euros for speeding in France and had his driving licence suspended for a month by French police.

Hamilton was caught speeding on a French motorway in northern France on Sunday at the wheel of his Mercedes. He was doing 196km/h at the time.

Haha, he wont be driving to any tests in Jerez now

Note: I said driving to I assume he will still be driving at the tests. It'l be interesting to see how Ronnie reacts.

Superlicense and driving license have nothing in common. Police can't take superlicense and FIA can't take driving license. I mean, a driver doesn't need to have driving license in order to race on closed circuits so theoretically starting from karting a driver could reach F1 and become WDC without having driving license.

I thought you do need a driving licence to get in any racecar (apart from go-karts)...

If I'm not mistaken Jacky Ickx didn't have driving license when he started driving in F1. Perhaps it's just an urban legend but I was told so two decades ago. You have a lot series apart from karting with drivers not suitable to have driving license under their national traffic laws.

Or if you want it the other way - driving license for driving a passenger car is needed on roads that are officially declared as roads. On some village plain or in desert you can drive as much as you like even if you're 8 yo.

That's like with gun carrying permit. Even if you don't have one it doesn't prevent you from carrying it 100% legally around your house or backyard but the moment you step from your private land on public land you're breaking the law.

More recently (and that's no legend), Fernando Alonso got a restricted driver license when he was already driving an F1. I remember the picture: he holds in his hand a plate with an 80 engraved (the max speed authorized when he was driving his regular car).

Nelson Piquet lost his driver license this year because he ran off points... His wife, who was in the same predicament, accompanied him to driving class.

driving in closed circuits does not require a regular drivers license in the US as far as I know. i don't know about Europe. Perhaps it is not a FIA rule but it depends on the countries' laws. It would be interesting to find that out.

To drive your car in an open road you need a driving license everywhere.
To drive your car in a closed track you don't need any license.

Well, I'm not sure about other countries, but where I live you need a FIA-ACC (Automóvil Club de Colombia) license to drive in a track.

He loosely lost his French license. Looser loser.

Police brutality, I'd say. Arrest me, I won't move, make the ACLU happy, you pig... Contre nous de la tyrannie, l'étendard sanglant est levé... :-({|=

Besides, Hamilton had a reason: he was "rushing back to Macca to make sure he had his seat fitted before Kovy", as my friend Silver Fox explains...

Whatever reason he has for doing that speed he's a ----wit, F1 driver or not you just can't drive safely at that speed if the road is not designed for it and the other traffic is not doing the same.
