No More Honda 'Earth' Livery

Post

Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.

They were dedicated and cared for the environment for one whole season. Now that the planet is cleaned thanks to their sacrifice they can go back to pollution promotion

What a cheap sleazy PR bullshit we get served daily! It is amazing how our brains are still functioning.

F1 newsflash - all teams are happy with testing progress, all drivers are getting married or are married, all car manufacturers are not polluting the planet, all drivers say nice things about their foes, all teams hope for titles, all teams launch the new car and than say that is not what car they'll race will look like.

What a purgative!

No wonder there was no place for JV and Montoya in F1 anymore!

Honda will not race the 'earth-car', but the new livery will again be environmentally inspired!

Honda's idea was not to 'clean' the planet but to simply give people an awareness.

And pollution promotion?

Its a well known fact that F1 fuel is more clean than most fuels used in Motorsport.

And Fuel efficiency is key to CO2 emissions, and you have to say, an F1 car is pretty damn fuel efficient compared to ChampCar and IRL.

But yeah, Honda's aim was simply to give more people an awareness of what's happening to the planet.

Oh come on...

Honda attempted a commercial deal with Google and failed, but they still chose the green route. If no one is willing to change anything then it will soon be over with everything. So no, they were no more fuel efficient, but yes they made people aware as much as they could.

As for the press releases. What are they to say? "No our drivers hate each other"? They have hopes themselves too that they will cooperate nicely. There was no problem at McLaren at the launch, so they were obviously happy. At Toyota this year for instance, they are for sure happy, and they have reason to be. Those two drivers appear very likeable and I think they will work together well.

Finally, I agree it's sad there is no more JV or Monty in F1, but it's like that. Monty left for similar reasons that Alonso did at McLaren. JV left because he was sick and tired of getting punched in the face by BAR and then later on again at BMW Sauber. I'm sorry but how can anyone ever seriously consider Kubica a better driver than Jacques.

Using the wonderful new feature on this website..

"Whatever you think about J. Villeneuve, you just don't question his speed"
Eddie Irvine thinks in may 2004 that Dave Richards made a huge mistake by sacking JV at BAR

Because ol Jacques won the WDC the NEVER led even 1(!) lap for the rest of his career. Not really champion material to me, at leaast not as much as he kisses his own ass over it. But, truth be told, I LOVED the guy. He had the balls to speak his mind. We need guys like him and my boy Juan in F1. It's quite boring with all the corporate BS we are fed from the teams and drivers every day. No personalities at all.

I don't know if anyone out there could say with a straight face the Kubica is a better driver than JV period. However I think Kubica was the right choice for BMW. I say this because given their relative positions in life Kubica is better suited for F1. Most drivers are nothing like M. Schumacher, in my opinion anyone who wasn't as freakishly driven and dedicated to F1 as him would never have won seven drivers championships even with his skill. Motivation becomes a big issue for racing drivers as they get older, especially when they already have one a championship. Having a family takes its toll, JV's wife was pregnant durring '06. I think JV just didn't care enough about F1 in 2006 to sacrifice all the other parts of his life. That says nothing about his skill or status as a great driver, its just human nature

Apart from in 2003 and JB at Indy (in different circumstances) what other team-mates of his led a lap in the same cars? In normal circumstances.

The 2007 "Earth Dream" livery was the brain child of Simon Fuller at 19 who manages the Spice Girls, David and Victoria Beckham etc... That's why the Beckhams were at Silverstone with Honda and were never seen with Lewis Hamilton at the front of the grid, even though it would have made back page headlines - they were under Simon Fuller's contract.

He's a very sucessful man, but I'm not sure the Honda 2007 livery was a great success.. I wander what the have in store for this season?

NO! WAIT!
If we are going to talk about music and football forget about spice girls and beckham and lets talk about Iron Maiden or Motorhead and Carlos Tevez (that has definitively a better looking  than David and plenty of humility and balls) :D

Now seriously, following Principessa´s suggestion, my opinion is enviromental awareness is neccesary, but painting a car that ugly is not!

By the way, does F1 cars use water based coatings?
