Honda RA108

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Any some Ross Brawn influence? At least to me the front wing reinds me of F2004 and F2005.

not the best pic, but the concept of the 2nd plane (the winglet) seems quite similar, and Ferrari were changing the shape of those teethy looking edges almost for each race.

Now the main plane of the front wing and the nose remind me of FW27.

On the whole I agree with:

I don't see how a high nose is a step backwards, maybe the intend to go faster than the other teams and not at the same speed.... (since copying them can only make you equally as fast). Also, Mclaren have gone for a similar nose design this year, it's not as high but it's similar. There's nothing that special about the design of the nose, just it's height - it's pretty much a higher version of the McLaren nose.

I personally think this car is one of the best looking yet. The BMW is terrible, it just looks so busy, the Ferrari's nose is ugly, as is the Renault nose (now that looks old!). The new Williams looks quite nice though :)

But hey looks don't mean a thing, if it goes fast who cares.

Looks like a good base for a Ross Brawn development ;-)

To see my (KimisApprentice) flaming of the "new" Honda...

http://uk.gamespot.com/pages/unions/for ... #297756164

Actually, i'll just copy paste it.

It says in your report it says revised rear aero dynamics but I'm dead certain that rear wing is the same as that used on the BAR 006 http://www.f1-fansite.com/wallpaper/200 ... 6-1600.jpg that is a 2004 car. 4 years Honda, and the only thing I can spot different with your rear wing is the RULE REQUIRED slot gap seperators and the 4 cut outs that are shaped in an odd way in comparison to other teams.

Car features Bargeboards stolen from the Ferrari F248, a nose from an Arrows A21 and a front wing from 2005, sculpted sidepods (Well more sculpted than before) new less ridiculous podvanes with a cut out, new airbox cover with a very distinct spine, also looks as though they have "ice skate" type blades on the airbox to conform with the Toblerone rule (A rule dictating minimum width of the airbox, as viewed from behind the airbox appears triangular)

The car looks a massive improvment from the 2007 absolute piece of sh*t but it still doesn't look very modern

There we are, good fun.

Aguri sold their Arrows chassis to Honda and they've just developed it

That's a whole lot of sand bagging! I hope they haven't headed off in completely the wrong direction again....

Give em a chance, it was pretty much shakedown day yesterday, just doing system checks.... It's never going to challenge FerMacs but it can't be that far off the pace.... can it?!!

They are apparently waiting for a new aero package, so this test must be largely irrelevant for times! Phew..

No test is irrelevant. You can't afford to waste test days, so I think this is indicative of their current pace. I don't think any aero mods are going to find them 3-4 seconds, maybe a second or so. Anyway, it looks bad. I think Honda should've hired Nakajima, he looks like he's trying to prove something.

Now i've heard from hearsay that the honda engineers already think it's another disaster.... much the same story as last year.

Typical #-o - that said I always said that the "Brawn Effect" won't have any REAL impact until 2009. That car will be made under his watchful eye, and should work a helluva lot better than the last one (and this one?)

Again I don't wanna read too much into these testing times, but if they really are indicative of their current pace then they're gonna have to wait till sometime in the mid-season for the so-called "Brawn Effect" to improve the short commings of this (seeming) disaster on wheels.
