Just want to say that current quali format was invented to stimulate on track action artificially. I like the former 1h/12laps format.

while we are complaining get rid of the stupid engine rule I want to see racing not engine conserving for the last laps of the race

and get rid of setting race fuel for qualiy what is the point of this anyway other than starting the race a few laps earlier in the qualy session

bring back as many tire manufactures that want to build tires

racing has become an exclusive club where money has to much say

Bruce Mclearn
Smokey Yunik
Jack Brabam
Colin Chappmen
Dan Gurney

these guys were not great because they had huge budgets they were great because they were innovative current F1 Rules prevent guys like them

I mostly

agree, but I'd put it this way: We have to make sure that in F1, money is attracted to talent, rather than talent to money.

Are you going

philosophical on me? OK, let's go zen with it and say "wealth isn't a talent, but talent is wealth". But seriously speaking, I don't purport to know what the perfect "formula" between intellectual resources and financial resources is ... in any case I do believe that money by definition is the lowest common denominator, its usefulness depends on its universal exchangeability after all. I think F1 in most instances continues to demonstrate that when push comes to shove, it is the value of such universalised, conceptual wealth that yields and proves a poor match to stronger forces such as innovation.

In theory, big companies want to dominate innovation, but individuals within can never really conform to those expectations to provide the success that the financial structures demand, nor can the individuals within retain the freedom necessary to innovate by conforming. Thus the mold keeps braking. Call it the success paradox. I think it's fair to say that innovation is most prevalent in borderline states that appear irreconcilable. Our innovative capabilities are immensely strengthened by the dialogue between our innate inspiration and a larger social sphere of existence.

Expand on that and one might claim that the size of a F1 team in absolute terms correlates very poorly with its potential for success, it is more for our (unfounded?) expectations on the nature of that correlation that leads to the financial arms race and corporate consolidation. Until someone comes along that proves them wrong, propably because a uniform and predictable adversary is easier to take on and vanquish. And so another cycle starts. To put a bit of an idealistic spin on it ...

Im just wondering how long till the bubble bursts

when will big companies say hey what are we getting out of this and pull out of F1 look at indy in its hey day If you won the indy 500 you were ging of teh world now nobody really cares except the team that wins and the one that loses

granted there were many more factors in play but we are way off topic

my suggestion vote Flynfrog for king of the world

i promise to fix f1 and make Thursday naked day

and cure world hunger

At last!

This news has been already published in F1T, but wanted to bring back disscusion.

What do you think about this?
There is now talk that once qualifying is over the weights of the cars ought to be published so that the media can explain what happened in the knowledge that they are not guessing strategies. There is a decent argument that this makes sense given that teams cannot change the settings of the car at that point and the knowledge of who is running what may add to the interest in the race - and will make it easier for TV commentators to explain what is going on.

I like the unknown of it. I guess knowing would really tell you who did a good lap and who didn't but its kinda exciting waiting to see who is the first to blink.

Great news for Felipe!
Now he will be able to blame the other drivers when he can't make a quali lap as fast as Kimi, because all the cars will pile up with a 10' Q3. Emmm... that already happened
