I remember Massa did 1, 29, *** . but this lap time was, maybe, F2007 chassis, 2006 spec tire and engine.

1.30.4 is very good time.

Last year, during Q2, Massa did 1,31,359.. Just 1sec Quicker..

Kimi and F2008 looks very fast.

Perhaps this just

goes to show that the combination of driver actions, mechanical properties, electronics and programming collectively (and perhaps somewhat misleadingly) labelled as "Traction Control" doesn't compare quite as superiorly to the fuzzy logic of human derived capabilities as common knowledge had it. Hooray for the wonders of the central nervous system. Note also that the tyre used was somewhat softer than last year's - that might explain something; the times were very consistent though, signalling no wear problems and the team also very much on top of finding well balanced, informative and responsive engine setups for non-TC purposes. Perhaps they didn't even have to take the car to its absolute limits yet, though any improvement in pace might not be easily perceptible during the actual race weekend due to higher temperatures.

Autosport: Massa not worried despite problems

Massa is claiming to have suffered some reliability problems on his F2008, the main one being an engine failure during a GP simulation.

According to him the failure doesn't present a serious feeling, and that he is happy that these problems are arising during pre-season testing and not during the actual season.

It seems to me that Massa is not on cloud nine as his teammate appears to be, which in return offers a more realistic perception of the teams pace so far.

Feb. 11, 2008 (last day of testing in Bahrain):

Pos Driver Team Time Laps
1. Massa Ferrari (B) 1:31.189 - 91
2. Glock Toyota (B) 1:31.209 - 71
3. Raikkonen Ferrari (B) 1:31.329 - 85
4. Trulli Toyota (B) 1:31.689 - 86

What to read into those Toyota times? Do they suggest they may be only 1/2 sec shy of Ferrari??
