Well if you state things which are wrong and things that have been proven wrong time and again, then why should you not be refuted? This goes for anyone, not personally you.

I'd expect the same in my direction if I was to state something obviously wrong

Going back to 2016 livery would be a start!
And easy to realize.

So, lets say the scenario is McHonda ends at the end of this season, what do McLaren do next? Back to Mercedes?

One thing is for sure, if Honda leave the sport again, they won't return for a very very long time. The last time they left the sport Brawn went on to win using their car with a Mercedes engine in the back, it doesn't get more embarrassing than that!

I think McLaren is in a bad position anyway. I actually don't think it would be bad to be a "customer-team" again. Back in 2014, 2015 and 2016 that may have been true, but with the regulations going back to bringing more emphasis on aero and engines surely going to reach some point in parity eventually, the power unit will lose its significance as the most underlying feature of the car. In fact, I think RedBull this year might just prove that a customer-team can win. They did last year - or they should have (in Monaco!).

Anyway. I honestly think McLaren needs to toughen up, but they simply can not continue pointing fingers at Honda. Honda is investing insane amounts into McLaren in form of sponsorship, driver salary and free engine. Take that away and McLaren are back to paying for these things. I also rather doubt Mercedes would supply McLaren. Why would they? They have enough customers.

I really hope Honda somehow can sort out their issues. It's reached a point where it is unhealthy for the sport as a whole. I want Honda to succeed and McLaren too.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

Ouch. That doesn't sound too promising.

Horrendous from Honda. They are utterly clueless.

They didn't think that others would improve. Stupidity of the highest order. Too conservative, too insular.

They desperately, urgently, need a consultant who has worked at Merc/Ferrari to go in and sort things out.
They just fired one, Gille Simon.

Well I liked the 2016 Livery, The orange is nice, it is the mix with the white that is the problem and the pattern that is created with the black. I'm sure if they made it all Orange with black and white lettering it would be nice. Even all orange with white lettering. Use the shape of the red stripes from last year and make them black.

100% agreed. I'm glad they wanted to bring some heritage back and I really do like the orange, from the front it looks excellent, side on.... the pattern design is extremely average.
If they absolutely must be orange and black then this is a huge improvement (I hate the current livery's stupid colour curve around the air intake...:

But IMO they should of gone more classic and done predominantly white and orange.. way, way, way more striking. Besides the fact the white and orange is heritage McLaren, Honda racing colour is white as well... (something along the lines of below)

They let go one consultant (Gilles Simon) amidst this mess, what does it tell you? Maybe Honda took his ideas and it didn't work out neither in terms of performance nor in terms of reliability.

Marchionne also spared a thought for the traumas faced in testing by the struggling McLaren team. "I wish them a good recovery," he said. He makes it sound like McLaren has cancer .

So in your opinion the rule change and double diffusers were irrelevant, it was the engine what made BrawnGP a winner... #-o
