The team managed a 5th place finish in the championship with the dominant Mercedes PU. Williams beat them with the same PU! Last season, with the Honda PU, they managed 6th. Red Bull won races and podiums with the marginally better Renault PU.

Honda is trying to make big gains to pass Mercedes. Will they succeed? I don't know, but I do expect them to improve the PU massively through the year.
They effectively won the WCC in 2007 but received penalties for spygate etc.

Tell yourself that has never happened before in F1 and hasn't happened since

They were just stupid enough to get caught.

Winter tests have been frustrating, that´s obvious. But those were only winter tests and they have never needed a competitive car from first GP. To match their target they need a competitive car at LAST GP, to then be able to fight for something next season, but there´re still 20 GPs and at least 4 upgraded PUs before we can state 2017 have been a fail
Andres you have the right to be positive but we also have the right to be pessimistic and critic due to the extremely poor job done by Honda. Yes, they have failed, does it mean that the full season will be failure? no, they could make a good job but there are reasons to be doubtful as they can be some reasons to keep some hope.

Past seasons clearly show that if you have done a very bad job during winter its difficult build a truly competitive car/PU if it has some basic flaws. The lack of reliability is worring but it could be solved, but the lack of power is even worse. Honda has already admitted that they are worried due the difference in power between their engine and the competence.

So you can focus on the good aspects which may give to you some hope, but worrying sings are there and can´t be denied.

I fear that they are really serious...
When I saw the car on the track I started to like the new livery so for me it´s fine.

I would like to know if the oil used in an F1 PU could be magnetised and therefore the lower level of oil could increase performance? Any electricity could create the magnetic field strong enough with the ICE. Could Honda do this?

OMG! They tried their Best to make honda angry and rip their contract with mclaren and get money from release clause. Smart step but a roulette one. Maybe Zak also want their heritage back, with chevy big Block! They even write 'like middle 00's' and not mention larger rear tyres as old turbocharged era. The Yerusalem bells is ringing!

does that imply that there are particles in the oil that can be magnetized? and since it's magnetism we're talking about they should be of metal origin... and would surely kill the engine. right?

Well yes and no. But if the whole PU is magnetised then less oil splash within the ICE could provide more performance. I'm not an engineer so I'm just asking if this could be done.

What McLaren can do is run Mercedes engines with Honda branding. Similar to Red Bull.

insulation problem on second tests is mclaren fault. in general changing engine would not help. thats one less issue to blame honda for. https://twitter.com/AlbertFabrega/statu ... 4623926273

I like it a lot. No denying it's a great historic colour and the way it's set like it's on top of the black gives it a smooth in motion type design, and with bit of white representing Honda. No idea why people are complaining. It's actually one of the best looking liveries.

Because it's just slapped over the top and doesn't follow any of the car's lines at all. It's a terrible implementation, and plenty of people think the same. There were many orange/black/white designs mocked up by fans that look so much better than this half-arsed attempt that I can't believe someone actually sat down and chose that over it.
