Honda Power Unit Hardware & Software

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

all my wish to the turbo .....honda ask 2 months ..but i think they dont have this time ...must be run new engine on the test and be on the car for russia ...or spain ..but its critical to take the opportunity for real track test ...and for the this weekend weather its going to be tricky ..if god have some rain i hope to make it exactly on the right time ...

Is that a problem related to seamless shifting?

More like having to lift manually off the throttle while shifting up the gears so that engine is at a lower rev than normal

Would someone knowledgable like to explain or talk a little about how vibrations can be like this? I mean - this is extreme!

No I meant what I said. I would like actual technical conversation in this thread from people that know things. There are plenty about but you are probably not one of them.

Thanks for posting

That last upshift.... well, all of them sound terrible, but the last one in the video looks like if the gear was refusing to be engaged

Last we speculated were on 3 areas (as reason for vibration)

1) too much of the engine structure shaved off for weight saving

2) TJI causing vibrations

3) Valves getting too hot

Oscillations ? Mostly due to flexing driveshafts....
Gearbox
I hope they mule test this engine at Twin Ring Motegi before they bring it anywhere near a F1 race

I think wazari is reading our post, i see him online few hours ayo, or maybe glenntws could analyze few. My question is why honda not produce their own gearbox, their 9 speed DCT almost as smooth as PDK..sorry little OT
