No. It is Alonso. He means that HE was the fastest in the corners and faster than the car could be. ;)

The usefulness of the printer is limited by its size, it can only print parts that fit inside it, the pictured printer is therefore fairly limited. You aren't going to be printing front wings with it.

On the other hand they probably have something more impressive back at the factory, this looks like more of a marketing exercise.

Disappointing to see double DNF from car failures. Pretty poor that 3/4 race starts are Mclaren caused DNFs. They can moan about the PUs all they want but the long and short is they don't have a chassis capable of lasting a race distance.

If they had a PU in testing that worked this would / could have been solved / avoided !!!

Alonso is surely faster than Vandoorne, but right now they do not have the same parts so it is hard to compare them, and a little harsh on Vandoorne I think.
Harsh on Vandoorne? I never said a word about his perfomance, I only said imagine McHonda fans comments if both McHondas would have performed at Vandorne level. That´s far from a critic, it was a praise for Alonso job.

Vandorne is a rookie with an ummature car and a PU with a poor design wich force them to drive the car around the PU revving it up more than neccessary. I don´t think anyone is asking Vandorne to perform at this part of the season better than he´s doing, do you?

But the fact remains, imagine if both McHondas would have performed at his level... Alonso´s hands are saving McHonda from lots of criticism, that was my point and still is, so I don´t think it´s a good moment to say Alonso´s ego is bad for the team, it´s the moment to say Alonso´s talent is saving the team

It's not "his" level Vandoorne has been stuck during the first two races.

First of all AUS and CHI (with basically only one FP) are circuits Vandoorne has never driven before.

Furthermore Vandoorne has hit way more trouble with his car than Alonso has.
In AUS his electronics got stuck in warm-up lap mode taking him out of the race pretty much right at the start.
In CHI he had fuel troubles throughout his race.

Had Alonso had this kind of trouble right from the start of each GP, he wouldn't have been able to deliver two such good showings.

You saw the emoticon i used? For you: No. I don't think that. But all the Alonso fanboys like to believe something like that, when you read carefully here. I'm really glad, that i am not a fan of anyone but my wife and kid ;)

Vandoorne was hit by Grosjean in the first lap causing him to fall back from p13 to p16. He also experienced issues with the steering wheel which lead to the car not being set up properly for the restart after the SC.

Complaining of lack of power from the PU.

In wet and especially in the dry engineers are saying simulated lap times were comparable with Alonso but due to being in a slower group he could not be as fast. (Also praising Alonso for having a better start)

If you look at the start he was right behind Fernando but ended up on the outside of the first corner.

More to the point why would anyone compare Vandoorne to Alonso in a car that isn't competitive.

No I don't think we can ask more of him. But your reference to Vandoorne's level does rather suggest your comparing their performance a bit and came across in a negative way about vandoorne. I agree with all you say about him, but I do also think Alsonso has a faster car.

Agreed, and in who's hand would you rather give those new parts to the vet or the rookie ?

I think it also take pressure off V.

What's all this talk about? Stoffel said in Melbourne that Fernando had updates worth 0.3s. He also said they had the same package in China. So no point in guessing. Other than that both had several different issues and were in different positions. There simply is no point comparing both of them now. MCL is basically still testing.

But I wasn't disputing who is the number 1 driver. Just the fact a comparison of any sort is a little futile right now.

I really hope Honda can have one "new" engine ready for Friday and use the FP's to make sure everything "fits" and thus ensure we have a good test next week.
