New Honda engine in Canada

The Japanese are confident that a large part of the problems are solved as of GP Canada. Then Honda brings a new engine to the start. It has been greatly modified in the range of combustion. The Honda engine is equipped with a pre-chamber ignition.

In the Sakura development center, it is optimistic that the engine will bring the performance that Honda had targeted for the start of the season. First improvements have already been seen in Barcelona. Honda had modified the air intake and the petrol system.

if this is correct ...honda upgade gain more of 50hp ...the gap in 2016 between mercedes and honda it was 60-80hp ...mercedes step for 2017 is 30-50hp...and that means honda will be on renault level ...on canada ...and no more of 30-50hp from mercedes ...sound like over a second upgrade and i hope to be true

Hmmm theyre down 1.7 around Barcelona at the moment. So an extra second would put them nibbling at the heels of Red Bull if the Monaco upgrades work.

What about 1.5 sec difference in BCN quali whit no reliability problems for Vandoorne?
0.5 seconds and muramasa on Autosport said that Hasegawa told Japanese media that Vandoorne had an electrical issue during quali. He's not had a single issue free quali this season. I don't know how it's rational to compare when reliability effected the sessions.
1.5
Difference in Q1 laps is 0.5. Q3 and Q1 lap comparisons is silly because of track changes and traffic. But whatever, it's seems like people are bent on ignoring mechanical issues too

Somehow I want to be happy about the announced update. But my mind goes *wait and see first*. Lets just hope it lasts the distance.

Really hope Honda is working on 2018 PU as well !!!!
2018 PU should have the same architecture as 2017, so it is not bother me at all. Push 2017 engine development to the limit!

No one breaks better than Honda. So a Podium should be realistic for Canada. :D

I agree with same architecture, but think it imperative they start work on a parallel program for 2018 to ensure reliability. Half the year is basically gone. They MUST start 2018 doing 120 + laps EVERY day of testing. Otherwise another year wasted.

Hasegawa san said that there is no need to change everything on this engine. So they will use this architecture next year and if they will not we will see same movie which we have seen 2015 and 17. If they keep same architecture of 2017 in 18, it will be like 2016 ( in normal conditions) so they will not live so many issues.
I am not sure, must they completely concentrate to this year's engine or set two different team one for this year's and one for 2018.
But I am sure that in testing, there must be experimental things. They must not make 120 laps or more. But they have to make laps enough to test everything they want to test without changing engine every testing day. İf they change engine every night ( not morning) because of trying something new or different I am ok. İf they complete race simulation, for example 60 laps for race sim and 30 more for other things its ok. I think 150-160 laps for lazy engineers and hardworking drivers. Maybe teams doing 120+ laps worked harder in winter I dont know. But I think this way

IMO, it is too fast, they need more tests . .
Hasegawa said that it would take a couple of races to Introduce the new spec. Not in 2 races.

I would not bet on any major Honda PU upgrades at Canada.(lust little things and another step with mapping)
