Heidfeld claimed that McLaren have a very fast starting system that allows Hamilton and Kovalainen to pull away with only 9,000 revs. On the contrary BMW need to use much higher revs . We have to wait a few days to see ....
Sounds to me like the Mercedes engine has been tuned to give good torque low down...making it more driveable about of the corners too...this just shows they've done some good work around the limitations...Each engine is different and has different characteristics. The Renault engine has always been famed for it's low down torque and flexibility out of the corners.
I think this has nothing to do with ECU , its about power transmission , may be they are able to develop more torque than any one at those lower RPM.s lets see ..
If this is true, it just may be down to a super-low first gear, more mass on the flywheel, and an engine that has low RPM torque. Additionally, how much abuse the clutch can absorb, and how it is programmed for the launch start.
Racing should be decided on the track, not the court room.
If it has a high initial torque, then it would a short gear, then would the car would have the speed to reach the first chicane quicker than the others?
Racing cars are neither beautiful nor ugly, they are beautiful only when you win races.
