Bernie blames Dennis

Post

Let me make it clear this is not to become a flame thread on dennis, or some cynical post about Dennis failings. I just thought the intervieuw with Bernie by the Sun(of all papers) had some interesting quotes. Prolly taken out of context knowing the Sun but nevertheless a nice reading.

Please POL, I'm slowly growing respect for you, and you feel a need to drag in quotes from such a sleazy publication?
Racing should be decided on the track, not the court room.

sleaze yes, but look at the words ecclestone is using. He wants more drivers outspoken. He think Kimi and alonso are dull. Both are idols of mine but he has a point. Furthermore he thinks dennis is to blame hamilton lost the championship. I disagree on that but still. Like i said the sun prolly have taken this intervieuw out of context but i like his tone.

Point is, that Bernie made all those comments at the end of the '07 season. So this tabloid article is just bringing up/creating controversy for all the non-race tabloid readers. I'm wasting my time discussing very old news.

Bernie also thiniks that we should abolish all driver points and have wins decide the championship. Apparently he thinks this will spice up the specticle because driver will want to win more.

Well there is a flaw with his theory. The driver with the most wins has won the championship every year since 1989 (When Prost beat Senna - despite Senna having more wins), that's nearly 20years were his theory would no ultimately change anything, but reduce the want for teams like Super Aguri, Force India etc from anting to even bother competing.

Just goes to show, Bernie knows business, but not nessecaily racing.

I would look even further, cause 1989 Championship clearly belongs to Senna, unless you all believe in JM Balestre and Co.
Any doubts he won 1989 Japanese GP?

Dave's right - the Sun are just stirring up old news in the hope of selling more papers. Old Bernie's just a bit cut up that he didn't get Lewis "P-Diddy" Hamilton as world champ and the truckloads of cash he could get from it. It's his commercialisation of F1 that means drivers are required to be dull. Look at the grief DC got from the ITV bird for thretening to kick the sh*t out of Massa! Racing? It's not about racing anymore...

It is old news but thats the fault of the Sun, not P_O_L. If the interview is from a different perspective, regardless of quite how bias it is, it should be the duty of those who seek knowledge to examine it and see the situation from every available viewpoint.

Regarding the article itself, worse than i expected, unaduleterated garbage, although I have this sneaky feeling even from the butchered text that Bernie was also taking a snipe at Mosley (I'm probably wrong though) as well. Still worth reading though.
