Looks like Alonso is leaving Mclaren.

https://www.racer.com/f1/item/142034-al ... in-mclaren
You want to see him leaving and understand the article that way. Mclaren has good signs to make CC winning chassis as Alo said and we will see what Honda had done this weekend and what will do at second half of season. As Alo said there is just PU power matter, all other parts ok. I believe Honda will be good next year and I am pretty sure if Alo leave end of this year, next year's flash team will be mclaren. When we look Alo's carrier this is very expectable. From my point of view if Alo move, it will be one of his wrong team changes in wrong time and this time for the last time, causing him to end up with 2 title

I hope this is more credible, anyway I don't see why you guys are so suspicious about Alonso leaving MC.It shouldn't be such a big surprise after all.
Probably because not even Alonso himself know the decision yet, so reading so many speculations about Alonso´s future, and not only speculations but assumptions about his departure from McHonda, becomes tiring. The decision will be made in september, he´s repeated that ad nauseam.

And to me it´s obvious not before september because he need to know the rate of develpment of the PU, if this weekend upgrade and the complete spec 3 upgrade make a significant step forward he´ll stay. He´s also stated more than once only the PU is missing, the car, the team, the atmosphere, all the rest are perfect, so I think he does not even ask for best PU on the grid, only one wich is somewhat competitive, and that is perfectly doable

Now its at 50%. the updats in Austria and specially in Spa will mark what Alonso will do. Another important aspect is to know if there a seat for him in Mercedes or another team capable of winning next year. Not many options out there...

I don´t think a free seat is a factor anymore, if past the summer the project does not convice him and there´s no other free seat on a top team, he simply will leave F1 for a different project :(

The only thing I see in those interviews is that he doesn't want another year with Honda. He has nothing bad to say about McLaren. Ferrari is also a gamble seeing their pace in Canada and Baku, I highly doubt they can keep up with Mercedes and Red Bull. Mercedes is simply the place to be: great resources, great chassis, great team and the most powerful/reliable engine. Do I think Mercedes will sign him when Hamilton stays? No.

Despite his words of warning, Alonso insists McLaren is still a positive place to be as he feels the ingredients are in place from the team's side to be successful in the near future.
"The atmosphere is good. I think the team is very united, the team wants to win. We know we're missing one part. The chassis is okay, the strategy is okay, the atmosphere is okay. But the power on the engine is not at the level we should have, so we will try to help Honda in the best way we can to keep the motivation high for them. But it has not been delivering the best results so far."

Alonso today: "This is a small step, a small different version of what we had until now. But there are not big changes in it. We tried it in Baku. If it was powerful enough to fight for the top five we would have kept it in the car there. But it is always welcome. It is difficult season so far for the Honda guys and slowly we can improve but it can take time. Hopefully this is the first step of many.”

They keep rehashing the same BS over and over. I think half the stuff AlO says is to feed them and get them off his back.

They keep asking him the same Questions over and over..... just give the writers stuff to write about and they start to fabricate BS and go off on tangents. You says something enough times it starts to sound like the truth.

Stick to the facts. There are really only 2 places where he can do what he expects. The odds are long on both.

Next year FIA will probably announce specifications for the next generation of engines. Everyone except Honda has that luxury to start development for 2021 engine. Honda will need 1-2 years to level with Merc and Ferrari for current PU on power, because thees guys will switch focus on 2021 engine. On reliability I don't think they will anywhere soon accomplish that because no one runs they engines except MC, and that leaves them where? Once again they will lag behind everyone. That's why I think Honda project is doomed. McLaren should ditch Honda I look for a better partner.

I'm sure Honda have the resources to work on the current PU and the new spec in tandem.
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Sauber from 2018 on - so not just McL alone.
Apart from that - I cannot imagine all other manufacturers to switch to the 2021 development completely. Everyone will continue to evolve their "old spec" engines - you cannot simply ignore the 2018, 2019 and 2020 championships.

Unless they freeze the dev like they did with the V8s at some point
