I might have not been too far off based on his sources
I call bs. 10 bhp is no where near enough to see the top speed improvements recorded last race and this one between the 2 cars.

A S1000RR which weighs in at about a 3rd of a GP car and has a drag coefficient significantly less than the downforce producing machines of a modern day F1 car. I am "reliably informed" that the 7 bhp upgrade that comes from the akrapovic and chip upgrades produce a 5-6 kph top speed increase depending on altitude.

15 kph above 300 kph is easily 30 BHP. Leave the rumours alone and comment on what can be seen/tested/reasonably deduced. Also McLaren were quite positive on the new engine (all things considered) so it must add some value. Let's see speed trap figures in qualy between the 2 cars

It's only 10bph.
Yeah, but yesterday it was 27 bhp. From the same source.
I bet these HPs are wearing off with the distance. On Sunday they will be depleted and the engine will be on par with the old one.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

@DarksurferZA

Let's measure it in this qaulifying coming up when both cars will be running in similar conditions with full power stoffel with the new pu and Alonso the old one. That is unless one of them breaks down again and spoils our fun.

It's hard to compare when Alonso has been 0,5 second per lap faster in quali since the start of the year.

We can still compare top speeds and speed trap figures

Just comparing from last GP when the cars had a 15 kph diff in practice. I used some calculators and reverse engineered some numbers (code for I guessed the numbers I don't have until it looked like it would fit all the other calculations) but it shouldn't be far away from a 30 bhp increase

Used this and several other calculators to reverse engineer the approximate numbers

Both Alonso and Vandoorne said that it was a small update, so 10bhp seems more likely than 30bhp.

Vandoorne is so slow, even with spec 3.0. Please replace him in 2018.

Alo time with old spec is quite respectable, Van haven't shown anything special this year

With the new engine, VAN was within 2/10 of ALO, so that's about a 3/10 gain from usual. So either ALO didn't do his usual blitz of VAN orthere is something in the Honda update

Don't forget the laptime is only 1.05/1.06, so the difference between Alonso and Vandoorne should be smaller.

If the update is worth 0.2 or 0.3 at Baku, it should be around a 0.1 or 0.15 here.

12th and 13th, should have been Q3 for Alonso with spec 3.
