I hope Bottas wins this race. Then it will be moving towards a three horse race for the championship.
Thats the only chance for Vettel. As he will have a team mate helping him while the Merc boys take points off each other (Mclaren 2007)
Where did that happen this season (taking points off each other)?
Help from the Teammate is far more valuable if the second driver takes points from the opponing team. I dont't see that happening soon with RAIs performance and the better car that Mercedes has since Canada.
That very much depends on how they finish. The 2007 season highlights this quite nicely, 2010 maybe too.
Example: 20 races. 3 Drivers (X, Y, Z), 2 teams (A, B). Driver X and Y drive for team A, driver Z for team B.
Scenario 1:
Driver Z finishes 3rd 20 races. 20 * 15 = 300 points.
Driver X and Driver Y both finish equally with 10 wins each and 10 times in 2nd. (10*25) + (10*18) = 430 points each.
Scenario 2:
Lets assume Team A and B are closer and split the wins (because on half the races, Team B has the quicker car)
Driver Z wins 10 races but concedes 3rd every other race. (10*25) + (10*15) = 400 points.
Driver X and Driver Y again split wins when they have the best car and concede the equal points on the other races.
(5*25)+(5*18)+(5*15)+(5*12) = 350 points.
So in this type of scenario, Driver Z wins as a result of being the sole contender and not losing to his team-mate.
