Bottas looks quick. Might be problems for Hamilton.
Lewis was 1 tenth slower on a tyre that's probably a second or so slower...
half a second at best on this track it seems.

Wow, Mercedes looks so superior! :wtf:

Hamilton looked mighty with soft tyres but he has made a mistake with supersofts. Anyway, Bottas lap(1:28:496) is 0,332 seconds faster than Raikkonen´s lap.

Ferrari has improved since FP1 but they are still clearly behind. I hope they can improve a lot for tomorrow.

What about the weather forecast? the Spanish commentators say rain is expected for qualy but the race will be dry.

On Softs, Hamilton is less than a tenth off Bottas, who was on Super Softs. On his SS flier, made a mistake and lost that lap where he was quickest of all in S1.

There seems to be only 3 to 4 tenths between Softs and SS on quali laps in practice sessions. It could translate into around half a second to 7 tenths when the teams empty the tank and run in quali tomorrow. SS is most likely not the preferred tyre for race. That compound is unable to take the load and losing life faster.

What happened between Massa and Verstappen?

They gave the info that there's an investigation but did not show any replays ...

Verstappen was on a lap, Massa was ahead of him, likely on an outlap, didn't want to let him past, it turned into somewhat of a training fight for position.

not a problem, just a mistake on Beckett and then aborted fast lap. He should be easily on pole if he has a clean lap tomorrow

Things looking really good so far for Mercedes here... that's never good news for Mercedes on Sunday.

It was more than that, Massa was stupidly slow and went very wide into a turn, kinda looked like he was leaving space but then closed the door. Out of the next corner Verstappen pulled way alongside Massa and considering Massa was slow, not on a full lap and certainly not pushing hard he could have easily left the inside to Max. Instead he chopped to the inside as usual, Max saw it coming and braked fairly hard and came within an inch or two of wing damage for sure could easily have been more considering it was in a fast corner.

No clue what Massa was doing, absolutely no reason to block a guy going that much faster than you in practice, none at all.

Man Hamilton is beasting around this track he was the only one that could dip into the 31's in his race sim, Vettel was closest, Bottas a little slower.

Red Bull isn't on the pace of the leaders, Sunday is going to be tricky so they may be able to salvage something but otherwise I don't see them getting a podium this time round.

Haas and Renault are off the pace, running mostly 35's.

A nice surprise is that Alonso and Vandoorne easily had top 10 pace, it's a shame Alonso is starting from the back of the grid, but my sim keeps suggesting that the race will be held under changing conditions.

Will anyone break into the 26's in Q3?

These new cars are wicked fast, the race pace is as fast as qualifying was in 2015

It is worth noting that, Bottas was doing his race sim on MEDIUMS on second stint with 1m33.xxx and was matching Hamilton's time of 1m32.xxx in first stint.

Pace-wise, Mercedes seems to be quite far ahead of the Ferraris on both short and long runs. Looks like if it is going to be a straight forward weekend (without any drama), Mercedes would run away with an unchallenged 1-2 in both quali and race.

Let's see if it is JUST FRIDAY.
