Mclaren ECU

Will teams have there own independent ECU in the future? I find it odd that all the teams need to use Mclaren's Technology. I know they team up with Microsoft but why doesn't Microsoft help each team individually with there own ECU.

For now, there will be just the one standard ECU. The problem in the past was that each team had their own hardware, and it made it pretty well impossible for the FIA to detect traction control. Now, with this ECU that makes it harder to hide TC, we now see the wonderful spectacle of drivers and cars sliding around. I for one applaud and support this one ECU.
The ECU is not the problem, it's just burdening the drivers with more workload.
Racing should be decided on the track, not the court room.

It's an FIA rule. Because the teams can't be trusted with their own to not introduce forms of TC etc. They won't use their own ECU's again.
