Statement from Williams about Di Resta replacing Massa, below. It claims Di Resta is the Williams reserve driver, which then seems shocking as to why he was so unprepared, in that he hasn't even turned a wheel in the car, or any F1 cars since his Force India days. But anyway, things seemed to go alright for him. There was talk of his unpreparedness being a safety issue, although safety has been the talking point of the week, so, you know,.

I always wondered how come Di Resta couldn't find a drive. He is the same caliber of Hulk or something like that.

Kind of OT, but just wanted to share this, as it is one of the best overtakes for the lead ever, and it was on the Hungaroring, where everybody says you can't overtake. Piquet on Senna in 1986. I think this was the first ever Hungary GP.

Starts around 1:35

Unforgettable overtake!
We wont see those kinds of controlled powerslides in the modern F1 cars, but i think it facetious of Hamilton to say its impossible to overtake here. He has done it before here quite a few times, and so i think he is playing his usual mind games of diminishing expectations and putting his competition into a false sense of security.
But i think we've all seen him do enough of this to take what he says with a pinch of salt. Himself, Max and Ricciardo will probably be the ones trying the hardest to find gaps.
The russian torpedo will create gaps on all his own however.
For Sure!!

To be fair, in 1986 dirty air wasn't as much of a factor as it is now. Aerodynamic advances have fundamentally changed the game here.

But still, the way Piquet drifts into turn one with opposite lock, if that isn't EPIC, I don't know what is.

I think it also has to do with the tires. Wouldn't surprise me that even if it could be done, doing that to the current pirelli tires would immediately render yourself powerless in a couple of laps when your tires go haywire.

i think it came down to the fact that Hulk generally beat him at force india. a car that was fairly stable but not good enough for alot of decent results so he never shined and he doesn't have money backing him so he got replaced by perez if i remember correctly. meanwhile the money talked and we had to put up with pay drivers at teams he could have done a decent job at.

Yes, I was gonna mention that as well. What Piquet did back
then would never work with today's tires. Shame, if you ask me. I'd rather have Mercedes wrapping up the championship by mid-season, instead of the tires artificially keeping others in the fight.
