Fastest lap of the race. Top stuff. Great race and we'll driven by both the boys. So good to see!

Not as impressive as getting Past Saints in Hungry. That should have been the driver of the day move ....

Very simplistically, if you look at Q3 results.

Riccardo you'd take as a better driver than Hulkenburg however.....same engine different chassis and RB is 0.65 ahead. That's chassis, driver combo faster.

Alonso was 0.1 behind the Renault so 0.75 behind RB.

Assuming the McLaren chassis is a match for RB, are we saying the Honda engine accounts for 0.75 seconds on this track compared to a Renault engine? If so then is the 30hp/kw expect improvement on developed Spec 3 gonna bring that gap down to zero?

ok, I appreciate that if you get more from the PU you'd change the car set up a little and gain more.
- I think they're pretty even as drivers. Riccardo seems faster cause he's got a better car.

- I saw Alonso's Best S1 was a Double DRS and what appeared to me to be .6 faster than anything else he Did later in
S1...A more power simulation, if you will.

Vandoorne is so slow, they should have signed Hulkenberg.

40 more HP would slash the deficit in half, they'd be fighting the Red Bulls easily.

The McLaren chassis is obviously good, but how much of that is down to engine packaging?

In any case this has to be a good boost for the team, if Vandoorne hadn't nearly ran over the front jack man they could have finished 6-7 or 6-8 as the McLaren was clearly faster than the Force India.

That's harsh. He's had a fantastic weekend. Pitstop mistake which cost places aside, he's been consistently improving with each race.

Fernando is still a monster, he is driving better than ever, let's hope the recent improvement by Honda encourages him to stay for another 2 years and have one last hurrah. Fingers crossed for the update, hopefully will be there in Spa. Reliability shouldn't be an issue next year, lets hope the power will be satisfactory.

The chassis is obviously really good. Can't wait for the break to be over, thankfully Motogp will be on in the meantime.
Never Give up.

great race for the team helped no doubt by the safety car and fuel saving. I think Alonso saved all the fuel for the last lap

was initially disappointed at the restart because he got such a good exit on sainz, pulled out of the slipstream and then had to duck back in because of lack of power

I will say this: If Honda finally picks up the pace and hopefully engine doesnt fail too many times, Mclaren can reach the 5th position in constructors. But the real test is coming in SPA and Monza, if they will be able to get few points on those two venues than this is possible. If not, well they will be 9th at best.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

Engine packaging probably is very significant. I

I disagree.. McLaren was much quicker this weekend than STR, and 6th-7th was to be expected. I had even put money on FA finishing 6th, knowing that if a RBR, Ferrari or Mercedes wouldn't finish, it would be easy to pick that place up. Alonso did nothing magnificent today. McLaren finisht where they should.

That said, there wasn't really a DOTD.. but I'd give it to Vettel. Considering the problems he was dealing with, and nursed the car to victory.

Yes all hail engine packaging. Thank Honda for the engine that can be packaged well.

Much more important the complex front wing that has featured so much this season, or the bargboard structure, or the amazing looking bottom part of the rear wing supports.

Very nice result. Good to see some reliability and a decent points haul to get ahead of Sauber. Was only a matter of time really.

Much quicker than STR is a bit of a stretch and Hungary is a track where you have to be WAY quicker to be able to overtake comfortably.
So that was indeed a very nice move from Alonso.

Vettel on the other hand was escorted and protected by RAI on a track where overtaking is difficult anyway.
So I don't see anything special from him there.
