Williams FW40 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Still no sign of carbon gearbox casing. :|

Gearbox rule: Each driver may use no more than one gearbox for six consecutive events.
This is the 12th GP this year, so new gearbox for next event (Monza) probably?

Di Resta retired at the last race so Massa can take a new gearbox without penalty.

I though the rule apply only for gearbox internals and not for the casing?

No, they use this configuration even at high downforce tracks like the Hungaroring.

I don't know if it's the angle, but those first couple flaps look quite fat at the leading edge.

In the picture above: car looks nice and shiny!

After Massa's crash:

A new gearbox is mandatory now :)

Update form Sky F1: they have to build a new car for Belgian GP.
