Looks like they are piggybacking extra engines to avoid future penalties...like w have seen last year.
"Problem" is just an excuse.
No, otherwise they would have stockpiled with a spec 3.6 not gone back to the spec 3.5 again
Maybe they didnt have enough 3.6s ready
Wouldn't it be better to run it since it was mainly about reliablity?

This is why I want McLaren out of this. People become content with mediocrity.

Well all know now for certain that McLaren isn't breaking from Honda. No matter how much you want the world to be flat, wishing it will not change it. It's round get over it and spare the rest of us.
You are either extremely ignorant or just playing dumb
Please, stop assuming you´re the only one who know something about F1, and consequently assuming anyone who contradict you, is an ignorant or a fool. You said to someone he has not seen the contract, but you didn´t either, so statements from McLaren and Honda are our only sources of inside information. Those sources say McLaren will use Honda PU next year, so when you reply to someone saying he´s an ignorant because of saying this you´re simply demostrating how arrogant you are

You´re FAR from an expert, if I´d have to make a ranking from F1T members you´d be in the last group (with myself), period, so you should be a lot more modest, and specially stop insulting and despise F1T members, because most F1T members could do the same with you, but they don´t, because they´re mature people who respect others opinions. Please, try to do the same

So, here's a thing. I was discussing the ongoing McLaren/Honda/Renault/ToroRosso engine saga with a very senior figure on Friday and the conversation ended with them suggesting that it was quite likely that in the end everything would stay the same as now.

Motorsport Week:
But Renault chief Cyril Abiteboul, although confirming talks have taken place, says they have now gone "very quiet" amid speculation McLaren will continue with Honda.
Case closed !! :D :D

I don't see them changing either.

Honda are getting pretty close to Renault so what's the incentive to move?

Vettel on a 3 year Ferrari deal. Alonso's options are as good as gone. Talk of Williams but their chassis ain't delivering this year, next year a risk and would they be ahead of McLaren in 2018?

Alonso will sign for another year and Honda will stay with McLaren.

Stop pretending you've seen the contract and don't be so naive to think there won't be stipulations about performance in it.
They'll be partnered next year. It was made certain when Toro Rosso talks collapsed. That interview Hasegawa even said it was discussions with no formal talk occurring. FIA want Honda in F1. If McLaren cancel the contract it will remove Honda. Doesn't take a genius to figure out unless there's a second team for Honda to supply, their future is pretty much already written.
You think you know exactly how this works but you don't.
As if you do, the one who said the deal with Mercedes was signed before Silverstone.

I am told by the same source who said spec 3 update is worth 8kw and was right about it, that spec 4 is also minor update like that, up to 0.2 sec.

The team is practicing giving each other toes on the straight since the straight line speed is really bad. We are going to be sitting ducks if it doesn't rain.
With a tow for that particular section it's possible to see what this car could do with a top engine. Btw Alonso's engine sounds sick already.

Vandoorn didn't need a tow...
