Remember, there is more to F1 than being fast. DC is the consumate professional, always has words for the media, sponsors, etc. The young guys can learn a lot from him.
True. But ultimately F1 is about driving fast, the whole media/sponsor thing is just a necessary evil. I would much rather see on David's position on mclaren someone young and someone that has possibilities, someone that is very fast. If your good with media, become a model.

As a racer he is great, but its true his raw speed is beginning to fade...could he be feeling a bit "over-the-hill"? Maybe he is loosing some motivation, or he lost it with some poor performances and has stuggled to get that motivation back?
Silence is golden when you don't know a good answer.

hmmm......have to work out how to put in quotes.....
here is a previous post of mine F1jagfan

it would seem that david agrees with us according to the F1 news sites where he was disappointed with his speed against kimi in silverstone..
i think DC could still be useful to a team such as Jaguar or Toyota because while he hasnt the blinding speed of kimi or the ultra consistency of schu, he is technically adept and can help in developing a car... was an excellent number 2 to mika when Mclaren were dominating in 98 and 99...

hey man.....
well now with webber confirmed to be leaving for Williams the Jaguar seat surely must be DC's main target.... one that will still allow DC to run in the top ten (sometimes ) and keep Jag with an experienced and quick driver to optimise their package albiet on a lower budget than they should have to....
lets see what happens....

Hehehe... poor old David. I wonder if he really believes in his own stories. Or does he truly think the team bosses are stupid? That they believe everything they hear.
This was in f1racing.net:
Coulthard said recently some paddock figures had been influenced by his poor form in qualifying last season, "but where's the reason for it?," he wonders. "I'm on Kimi's pace in qualifying and probably even quicker in races."
hahahahaaaaaa!!!
Tell us another joke!
You poor, big chinned bastard. You suck! Accept it. Everyone else does.

The guys that scream out the loudest should first look at theirself first...
(Bernard anyone does his best, Pizzonia isn't a bad driver either, they just all need the right atmosphere)

We are expecting David to go to Jag next year for some months, so I don't see the fuss about Williams. Rumours remain rumours to keep the audience busy

Hehe. Some drivers just are better than others. Pizzonia will never be the fastest driver, no matter what amosphere you give him. It's just a fact: some drivers are better than others.
In David's case it's that he has back in the day been a pretty decent driver, but now he has lost his speed. But insted of realising the facts and quitting when he still has a tiny bit of reputation left, he decides to stick to f1 one, grabbing on to it, and spreading these lies and stories that are nowhere in the vicinity of truth... that just makes him an a**hole. The longer he remains in F1, the more he will get laughed at. And besides, what is the point of him staying. He has no chances of winning the championship anymore. He has had his chances, and also his big talks: "This is my year, now that Mika left it's my time to be the number one driver".
"Last year I had lots of difficulties, but everyone knows I'm the number one driver in our team, Not Kimi"
So what am I supposed to think? Pat him on the head, he just needs the right circumstances? For him it would be the ferrari car, no team-mate, and the other drivers driving Ladas. And even then i think he would somehow manage to --- his chances up. He has for a zillion times had it laid in front of him, had a winner car, winner team, good management, and still he blows his chances.
Give it up.

Coming back to David, look what I found:

"there was a reason for his bad performance in Silverstone, where he lost 0.9 seconds on teammate Kimi Raikkonen. After the weekend McLaren found a broken front wing and seized front suspension rockers so Coulthard got a new chassis for Hockenheim and closed the gap to 0.1 seconds on Raikkonen. In the race he was forced to fight a severely damaged car so under the circumstances fourth place was a very good achievement."

ha! :P

Yeah, right! Like nobody else had a severely damaged car in the race: Alonso, Trulli... anyway that's no excuse for his crap driving against Kimi in EVERY race in the last two years. And the years before that? He had a world championship winning car, yet he didn't win it. On either of the years. He is just a mediocre driver in a good car. Next year when he goes to a team that is the level he deserves, we will see exactly how crap he is.

He's the same as Heidfeld. When Mclaren hired Kimi from Sauber instead of him, Heidfeld said they were making the biggest mistake ever, and that they would see that they should have hired him instead of Kimi. Yeah right! His results on the jordan haven't actually been championship quality. He's racing against a drive that pays to drive for God's sake.
Just the same with David. Big talks, he is better than Kimi, but when it comes down to action, he craps out. It's easy to talk the talk but not everybody can walk the walk.

So I would like for once for david to instead of running his mouth, actually beat Kimi. Being better than him in the practice, the qualifying and in the race. Race after race. And not by Kimi crashing out and him crawling to the finish line in 7'th. Less of the talking and more of the Kimi beating and I might even have some respect for Coulthard.
