Look what I found at work this week!

Post

I may have mentioned before that I work for a coachbuilders in essex, UK. We mostly specialize in Outside broadcasting Units, the one I just finished is on it's way to film the Euro 2008 football.

But we also built the Ferrari F1 and Ducati Moto GP paddock hospitality units, so it was quite a nice surprise to see this on Monday morning Image

:D

And one would think that people would realize that Ferrari only manufactures sports cars, not hospitality units, support vehicles, etc.

Thanks for the pic Luke.

This is the the 2007 hospitality Unit back for a few bits of refurb/enhancement, we're due to start a new one around christmas time which should hit the first European GP of 2010 which from what i'm aware is virtually identical this will all be paid for by ferrari.

The current one really is quite impressive though and although I don't know an exact figure. i know that it certainly cost a vast amount more than i'm ever likely to see in my bank account. All paid for by Marlboro who own a company called Procar, who claim to have built it but it was all built by my collegues at A Smith Gt Bentley.

There are about 6/7 lorries that are either part of the construction or transport all of the various furnishings etc. amongst other support. One of the lorries has a rather impressive crane unit tucked behind the cab which picks up all of the units off of the trailers and speeds up the whole process.

And yes that certainly made the 7o'clock start that bit easier!!

No idea who makes the McLaren one but from what I've seen that's certainly an incredible peice of engineering but takes even more to set up than ours that one requires around 12 trucks!! I'd love to have a go at making some fuel efficient trailers.

I had the chance to see it being assembled at Monaco last year and it was indeed quite impressive.

Yeah apparently mclaren were trying to get it down to 10 trucks but that really is a massive job. We were approached by Prodrive, but it was too late to actually get it built in time, which is a good thing really as they couldn't compete. Much to my dissappointment.
