They weren't best of the rest, they got an excelent result, but that was fortuitous, due to Ricciardo being DSQ, Vettel having a lot of problems, Massa got ran over in T1 and Bottas (clearly the faster non-Rosberg car in that race) had to come through the field twice after he got a puncture.zeph wrote: ↑11 Sep 2017, 19:56Because McLaren-Mercedes was three years ago, the team has new technical staff, new management, and new drivers?
Also, I have always been puzzled by McLaren's performance in 2014. They were comfortably best of the rest in Australia, had a double podium, and then they just fell off a cliff.
It was reported that the difference was in the fuel/lubricant supplier, and the firing of Whitmarsh and return of Ron Dennis may have been a factor, too. Anyway, in Australia the McLaren looked strong, the rest of the season not so much. I always wondered about that.
What about the money Mclaren lost due to Honda in the standings?
Feel free to figure out with your infinite wisdom where exactly Mclaren would have finished and how much Honda 'screwed' them.
4th vs. wherever they finished in the WCC last 2 years ? How much is the gap ?
Source? For all i know these are all fake...
A lot higher....
You must be dreaming. They didnt even manage that in 2014 with the best engine on the grid. You might also be forgetting the engineers and staff McLaren lost prior to that and how McLaren, with all that investment by Honda, was able to build that back up somewhat with key staff aquisitions...
Since when has the past performance been any indicator of current or future performance in F1? By your logic. 2014 Ferrari was bad so they will be bad now and for eternity. Sigh. . I've seen a lot of haters wanting McLaren to fail with this move so it's going to make the comeback all the more sweeter to see Alonso flexing his muscles in that McLaren Renault. Best part? Engine parity with Renault and Redbull so we will get to see the great battle of the chassis, Newey vs Prodromou! Let's get it!makecry wrote: ↑12 Sep 2017, 22:39Since when has the past performance been any indicator of current or future performance in F1?
