Turns out it was the 2017 version of Singapore 2008, Bottas given a big bonus at stopping Lewis/Merc losing a ton of points to Ferrari at their worst track
Well, I guess if it's wet, you won't be able to attack the kerbs...atanatizante wrote: ↑17 Sep 2017, 01:33From hero in Monza (Merc, FI and Williams) to zero here ... it`s kinda coincidence or this track is showing the present pecking order in downforce (or traction) levels?
Difference between Vettel and RB guys was mainly down to the first sector (which is a power one) being 5-6km/h faster
Then on sector 2 and 3 when downforce and tractions comes into play they were all on par, so taking into account Vettel factor on this track it means that RB car has the upper hand when in comes to DF&traction ...
Merc car - particularly in Lewis case - was losing 2 tenths in every sector and most of all it was curios to see that being at the same top speed like Ferrari in speed trap 1 they were lagging 2 tenths behind ...
Now had you see Vettel`s, Max`s and Ricci`s laps compared to Lewis or Bottas you can easily see how aggressively they attack the kerbs, especially on Vettels case in turns 10,11,14,15,16,20 and 21 ... (you need to see what he was doing after taking turn 20!) ... and this is how you could earn those 6 tenths between them ... yeah, came out of the car but you have to have confidence also in your car to do these reckless driving ...
Tomorrow, should be a wet race or not, it`ll be interesting to see if Vettel could afford to have a clash with Max at the start ... and when two are fighting in most cases the third would prevail (or maybe the fifth?)
Also interesting to see Ferrari`s form on a wet track ... on intermediates should be fine but on full wets they were beaten in Monza even by Force India ... or maybe the higher track temps will get they inters into their operations window? ... it will be interesting to know what track temps are when it rains here ...
Always concentrating on the negatives... Some serious hurting over your prejudice for Lewis and must hurt that Mercedes physiology favours more tracks over the season. Ferrari will have to up their game to overhaul your engine theories of not having parity, when Ferrari carry more downforce and can match Mercedes in the speed traps.Artur Craft wrote: ↑17 Sep 2017, 00:35No offence but saying that Hamilton is "great at street courses" is almost like someone saying that he's relieved a particular car is in the safe hands of Pastor MaldonadoWaikeCU wrote: ↑05 Sep 2017, 23:56I personally think Hamilton will be mighty here. It all comes down to how the Merc behaves around this circuit. Lewis is great at street courses and if this isn't the best car suited for this track, the driver still can make the difference and with the momentum he has after Spa and Monza, he could be in a different zone. In 2009 the Mclaren certainely wasn't the best car around, but he did put that car on pole in Singapore with a mighty lap and also won the race as well. It all remains to be seen on how the Merc has overcome it's issues early in the season.![]()
Unfortunately for Hamilton, he couldn't go lower on fuel(as, for instance, on the mentioned 2009 ocasion) this time, nor he had a massive power advantage on his hands, playing out for him(due to the track characteristics)PlatinumZealot wrote: ↑06 Sep 2017, 16:52I am sticking my head out. Don't worry, Mercedes will be on a league of it's own again on most of the other tracks and you and the other fans of Hamilton will be able to believe and tell everybody how special you think he isLike we've been saying forever.... On power tracks, Force India and Williams are always strong and best of the rest and, on tracks where power is less important, Mclaren, STR and Renault are easily better.
Don't worry, after the specific attributes needed to be successful at Singapore the heros will be humbled again by the zeros. Swings and roundabouts, two polar opposites Monza vs Singapore, changes in pecking order are to be expected.atanatizante wrote: ↑17 Sep 2017, 01:33From hero in Monza (Merc, FI and Williams) to zero here ... it`s kinda coincidence or this track is showing the present pecking order in downforce (or traction) levels?
The good news: There is a car between Perez and Ocon. The bad news: It is Kyvat. What are the chances they will make it through turn one?garyjpaterson wrote: ↑17 Sep 2017, 01:22Turns out it was the 2017 version of Singapore 2008, Bottas given a big bonus at stopping Lewis/Merc losing a ton of points to Ferrari at their worst track![]()
Man I haven't seen another more sour post than this. Clearly shows the level of frustration you have maintained over the season and pounced upon this opportunity to throw it all over and how poor your understanding of F1 cars is.Artur Craft wrote: ↑17 Sep 2017, 00:35No offence but saying that Hamilton is "great at street courses" is almost like someone saying that he's relieved a particular car is in the safe hands of Pastor MaldonadoWaikeCU wrote: ↑05 Sep 2017, 23:56I personally think Hamilton will be mighty here. Now I'm not a fan of any particular team or driver, but I do value logic, which your argument lacks entirely. Please check yourself before you so obviously bash a driver and his fans.Artur Craft wrote: ↑17 Sep 2017, 00:35You guys say Hamilton is so great but it's obviously just the car.
Mercedes are slow this weekend but it's obviously because Hamilton is a weak driver.
Sky F1 (Brundle) was hammering on about this as Vettel took pole. They also took close up shot of the rear wheel during the qualifying interviewsChuckjr wrote:Is there any concern for the condition of Vettels gearbox / suspension system after that hearty slam against the wall in his final quali lap? Haters gonna hate. Ignore him.ChrisDanger wrote: ↑17 Sep 2017, 06:53I've summarised your earlier post.
