One of the Honda updates was a boost to low speed acceleration, given the nature of this circuit, perhaps that update paid off here. Perhaps not from improving top speed but acceleration to 200kph.

And Red Bull 0,5 sec only away from Mercedes. What are you trying to conclude ? They also had the same gap more or less in Singapore. So ? Honestly guys, the rant about these things is more than childish. Also, who told that McLaren have a super chassis ? Your imagination I guess. It isn't super but facts prove that it's very good. Even Alonso on last race admitted that it probably is a little bit behind than top 3 teams. What will you try to achieve by bashing the chassis, be a smartas$ ? Of course chassis isn't perfect but from 2016 which they had fundamental issues is a LEAP forward. McLaren did their homework, Honda didn't. So keep bashing the chassis if that makes you feel better for Honda.

Absolutely getting fed up of the arguing on here. How is it possible that people on here seem to think they know better than professionals involved in F1 who have commented on the quality of the McLaren chassis. Yet there are still those who claim that because a previous design team built a poor chassis, that there is no way this one can br anything more than mediocre and that Mclaren are blaming Honda for the failings of the chassis and that, for some reason, Honda are going along with this.

The new floor has given the cars a much needed power boost by minimizing drag. Bravo Mclaren!

Can't wait for Fernando's 3rd title next year with a great engine.

Puts Alonso behind 3-4 slower guys with Mercedes/Ferrari engines, and with the power deficiency i can see the radio rants coming.

redbull chassis is best, thats th reason. what happened to renault f1 and TR? mclaren will find the reality next year going head to head with the best chassis in F1.

mclaren would have done a similar pace to renautl f1 and Torro rosso with a renault engine this year.

Unless Redbull massively improves their chassis i don't see it happening. Besides Fernando is a lot faster, more experience than their drivers.
