In place of Zak Brown, I won't sign Alonso unless he takes much lower salary.
no Alonso - bingo 30mln more for car develeopment. Ok, make'em 29 and sign Lando Norris or Button
and u think norris brings sponsorship dollars to the team?

sure the salary is high, a lot of it is offset by the sponsorship dollars that come with a driver

Alonso brings sponsorship dollars, euro or pounds? Can you name the sponsor, because Mc budget was published and there was no "Alonso sponsorship" there. IIRC, after Mc and Honda next sponsor was worth less than 10mln

I dont know. No one knows for sure apart from Alonso, his manager, guys at Honda and McLaren. For 3 years,as an outsider, I have always perceived Alonso as more of a McLaren guy and Jenson as more of a Honda guy.

Do you mean Nissan? Since RBR dont want to use Renault badge, MCL would use it

In regards to Renault and Red Bull, they started working together in 2007, just after Renault won their second straight championship. They seemed to function well with the same equipment, even when Red Bull were beating them in 2009, 2010 and 2011. I’m sure they and McLaren will have the same deal, since a Renault powered car winning is better than no Renault winning. Plus McLaren are more civil than Red Bull.
Friendship with Honda ended, Renault is my new (and more reliable) friend.

Nothing about that was ever from an official Source.

Nothing about "alonso sponsors" was official either. Nor unofficial.
So why claiming "Alonso doesn't bring sponsor money" is worse than claiming "Alonso brings money" ?
McLaren budget WAS published. Total figures are available to public. The 100mln per year from Honda was mentioned several times during last 3 years including from Mclaren officials.

Comparing the public Mclaren budget its obvious that ALL other sponsors add less than 50mln. So the claim is that ALL other sponsors do, is pay for Alonso salary?!
LOL

Seems like folks forget, so a quick reminder: Honda has been paying Alonso's salary. It will be interesting to see who will pick up the tab.

U get what u pay. Mclaren will pay full package and they are obligated to give it to them, like Mclaren provides equal steering wheels and sensors to teams if im correct. The same lubricant provider is a good thing as well in this case.

Somewhat Renault has struck a homerun with getting Mclaren onboard, since they will have some insight of the Honda engine, about things that work and things that dont work, maybe they can make solutions of japanese problems and use them for their advantage. On the other hand, STR could be sent as an information gatherer for them completely unrelated to Mclaren.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

McLaren did not seem to be very usefull with Mercedes knowledge from 2014, when they went to Honda.

Mclaren had very little access to the merc pu as ut was well known that they were going to Honda. They have been far more involved in the development of the Honda pu.
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️
