Lap positions grid graphic

Post

Hello all,
I'm new to here, I've been having a look and reading some of the topics. It looks good folks :) anyway onto my point:

This may have been covered before..but I've not seen it. Is anyone bothered by the scrolling grid graphic on F1 this season?
I find it so hard to follow and unless you memorise the drivers places and times, it's hard to make a comparison. Worst of all, I don't notice it scrolling for a long time. It seems to me to be insufficient.
Does anyone else hold this opinion?

Roost89, welcome. Hope you have fun here.

Sorry, I don't get your post. What grid graphic you're referring to? You mean on the TV or in a site?

You've probably know this (and it has been posted many times) but I think that the best way to check the race relative positions, unfortunately way after it has finished is http://www.visionf1.com/

I'm referring to the one shown on tv during the race. It's the single line that scrolls along the bottom of the screen.

Thanks for the link. I'll use that for the next few races :)

You're welcome.

I'm even more confused: either I did not see the graphic or the one I get from my local cable provider is different (I don't think so, but...). As far as I remember, they just show (once every blue moon) the name of a driver, the gap and the name of the follower.

I'll check next GP and let you know. I don't know the numbers of the drivers, never did, never will (I assume Kimi is number one :)). All I know are the helmet patterns (and not very well) and sometimes I check the colour of the cameras (they are different among members of the same team, as you might have noticed).

NASCAR has a more readable strip on top of the screen, but it also annoys me because it's there all the time, and while you wait to find out where a driver is you miss a couple of laps.

If you're planning on complaining to FIA, please, let them know that I also find curious that they don't show all the overtakings, but just a few, even if that has also improved slightly.

I've never noticed the scrolling screen as described, but then again, so far all the races for me have been in the weird morning hours.
If you wish to follow the positions more closely, it is easily done on the net, via www.formua1.com. Just click on the "live timing", and you are presented with an accurate, real time posting of drivers' positions and sector times. This feature is also available in qualifying. Heck, I have a wireless laptop sitting on my coffee table during the race, just for that purpose.
Racing should be decided on the track, not the court room.

He means the scrolling ribbon at the bottom of the screen (with poorly chosen colours, imho). It's a bit like those headline-bars on channels such as CNN or CNBC.

That's the very one Saribro.

Take it up with the FIA, sounds like a plan! Not sure if they'd sort it though.
