the helmet design is close to the family theme...

I wish Mick lots of fun and wonderfull experiences when he travels the circuits with his granddad. a shame they need body guards to protect a 9 year old from misguided haters.

He will also compete in three more events of the series, so good luck to him!
Funny that he's driving an Alonso Kart though, I'd have thought he would drive a Tony Kart since his father is a test driver for them. I also liked that helmet paint scheme much better than Michael and Ralf's.

Yes it is funny he has choosen an FA Kart chassis. But theses chassis are made by Tony Kart.
For now, FA Kart do not offer mini kart chassis like this.
I suppose that Michael's good friend Carlos Sainz has offer him this kart, or maybe Michael import these brand in Germany since he has his own kart shop!

I have no idea what the collar is on that picture. Do they always wear that in karts? is it similar to a Hans device or a chest protector that looks out from the suit?

Yeah I think it pretty much has a similar function as the HANS device.

It's called, easily enough, a neck brace. It functions just like a HANS keeping the head from whipping forward under heavy impact. They work great.

Hum, the collar is not only used in USA : it is mandatory in all European kart races.
You just have the choice of the materials : nomex or not, as you want.

I have made my investigation : the sponsor RACC is a spanish car club. So I am pretty sure this kart is Carlos Sainz's one. He just has invited the Schumacher family to spain for a race!

Neck Braces are demanded in uk karting too, shame it forces his helmet up over his eyes...!
