2018 Force India F1 Team - Mercedes

FI in tough situation next year. They've strongly over-performed for the last two or three years, and if they merely do good in 2018 and drop back a position or two in constructors then it will seem like a fail. They are in the unique position of kicking butt all over the midfield and simultaneously having no real prospect of becoming a front-runner. They'll only go down from here.

I still worry that the Vijay Mallya's shenanigans will come crashing down and wreak havoc on this great team. Everything that can't go on forever... doesn't.

Agreed. Perez is good but a few years down the line Esteban and Max are going to be fighting each other for titles.

Well as much as i do like Perez and as much i think he deserves being praised for his performances the past seasons and undoubtedly also for 2018,
i think that it all gets clear as day when you realize that you could expect that if Bottas doesn't deliver for 2018, Ocon will replace him at Mercedes AMG F1 Team in 2019,
and Perez most certainly will not. Ocon is pretty good, it must be said though, but i gotta say that, though Perez is a hothead too, i really think Ocon has a very dislikeable personality and stance. I feel like he should take some more responsibility and don't put blame elsewhere (not that he's like the next Massa or Palmer), as that would also greatly improve his craft and would make him grow as a driver and become much more of an opponent.

No it hasn't been announced. It was stated that they will announce it at the launch of the VJM11 (rumored to be Feb 25 in Barcelona).

i think i remember seeing this one before, even in the force india 2017 team thread.
even so much do i think i remember this, that it was posted there before their initial statement about wishing to be named force something and FIA/Liberty blocked it.

it doesn't neccesarily mean anything, even if bob fernely registered it, it could be simply a smart move to 'register' a name so that if somebody wants to use it, it's gonna earn some money for them. For example, if for some reason, FIA/Liberty wants to use it.

it has nothing to what it was called before.
force india never was named 'Formula one racing'
it has to do something with a date and name rights.

how this has anything to do with bob fernley and force india itself, i don't know.
but it has nothing to do with the team's principle name.

you guys are looking way too much into this.

i'll repeat:

it's not changing the actual force india name, rather a 'formula one name'

the force india name itself (just look up the adress in google) is registered various times on the same adress,
and the principal team name is still force india, and has not been renewed at all, and it's origins date back to 1989,
which i assume is the original jordan team designation.
