Monday saw Aston Martin Red Bull release the first pictures of its brand new RB14, just before the car was sent out on a wet Silverstone track for a shakedown and filming opportunity.
A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.
The lower side impact structure has been photoshopped out in the front image. It is still visible on the left hand sidepod in this image though:

Nah, its there, it just doesn't extent to the bargeboard next to it. It extends to just outside the outer edge of the side-pod intake
The darkness of the sidepod and back tire/floor kind of hides it.

It's black on Black, if you zoom in close you can see the outline.
You can see the side impact structure in the shakedown pics. It extends all the way to the bargeboards. It is definitely photoshopped in the studio images though...
So if this pic wasn't made on Ricciardo's X Box and is actually real
Can anything be found in the spray that gives a hint as to what he aero is doing ?
I thought the same thing.. The best looking car in ages but for that bar.. so bulky, looks like the total opposite of sophistication. ah what might have been..
