Aston Martin Red Bull Racing TAG Heuer RB14

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Is the RB14 the only car featuring a 360°-cam? I didn't see it on the other cars...

Gives us some nice footage:

The SF71H has a panel that looks like it's about the right size for that camera just in front of the halo. I also seem to remember the C37 having a similar panel on the halo. Would they put it there? I wonder if there are regs covering the 360 camera and its placement.

Gives a good sensation of speed and I think it will give a good idea of speed of direction change these cars have.

I believe all the cars will have them come Melbourn, pretty sure LM made them mandatory. RBR are just the only ones to fit it so far. I like the idea of the bugs eye view, should give a better impression of the speed of the cars compared to the cameras higher up on the vehicle and off the track.

RS18 has it in the filming pics from today...

So RB14 went with high mounted suspension compared to last year. I wonder if TR was a test mule last year to see if it worked as expected or if TR had the idea on their own. Wonder if RB was given feedback on it.

edit: you beat me lol!

Is there a lot of free space under the rear crash structure? AFAIR on the RB13 this was not the case.

And we can see a cutting line on the sidepod wing. So we can expect the wing tip might change regularly:

A screen capture from the vid of RIC leaving the garage seemed to suggest more room under the rear.

Are you referring to that one?

Yeah, if you slowly step through the video you can see there is a fair amount visible under there as the car passes. It's not the perfect angle to look completely under the rear but it gives an idea. Monday cannot get here fast enough!

I beleive the renault engine has a water to air intercooler in the chassis this year, hence redbull's return to the sidepod shape of their championship cars. I don't expect to see intercoolers under those sidepods, only radiators.
I must say i'm loving the elliptical radial curves on this car. 8)
For Sure!!

What kind of cooling system to use is each teams domain to decide over, not the engine manufacturer. Although they could certainly influence it.
