Wonder if it came loose/off before or after he lost the car
Considering it came off cleanly, it stands to reason there was a nut failure or finger trouble behind the wheel coming off.

Hopefully it is something as simple as that.

It looks to be simple failure yea, the question is at what speed did he get off, and since rear right side was bottoming on the gravel without the wheel, what kind of damage happen to the floor. I don't know if they have another floor with them. Last year for example they didn't had a second floor at first test.

He was on a purple Lap at that Time, so he wasn't cruising.

As I said Mclaren are trying to set best lap time from the very beginning to show all were Honda's fault. But it ended up with a mclaren fault.

Let's not make this thread another one of those Honda vs McLaren thread.

I think that's a bit over the top, though this might actually be an attempt to lure in sponsors. Sauber did this in the past as well.

A wheel nut failure isn't a big issue. However, if this caused damage to the floor, than they will much bigger problems. Anyone who watched the Grand Prix Driver documentary knows the huge lead times on the floor and how last year they had to scrap their 'promotional run' before pre season testing because of the delays on the floor.

Meanwhile, Honda/STR are putting in work!

From listening to the Periscope stream at turn 1, it sounds like the Honda is much more aggressive in the cylinder cutoff compared to the other engines. Very pronounced all the way through turns 1, 2 and 3.

I fear no more running today for McLaren. It looks like as soon as the car was fully loaded up it failed, rather than just something like a wheel nut that was not put on correctly.

Hope I'm wrong of course.
