While McLaren is dealing with its problems, now Honda powered STR is leading the lap count with 38 laps on board
40 now. Same amount Honda PU did for entire first day last year.

And wasn't that 2 Honda PUs last year. Jesus that real was awful.
The irony
well, if mclaren was still running Honda, they'd blame it on Honda anyway. #-o
inventing stuff like they had to compromise because of the honda engine,
despite it not being anything related to that.

and it would mean that once again, a mclaren-honda would not be running.

even though it's a tiny issue that has quite the consequences. but there's not a big issue made out of it now lol.

if it was actually toro rosso with a faulty wheelnut imagine the media and backlash #-o

I'm starting to wonder if Fred is the problem. Bad luck follows him around like a puppy.
It's that wonderful Mclaren pit crew. I'm not a Mclaren fan at all but that orange does look stunning on track.

Doubt it.

Part of the wheel hub had come out with the wheel nut still on it

Till now the highlights should be :
1. Hartley is showing good/decent pace and reliability with Honda. First to cross 50 laps mark.
2. Mclaren has only done 6 laps. LOL
3. Force India has given their car to a naive driver on the first day of testing, and guess what he has spun the car. I know they have lost Diageo sponsorship i.e. $ 15 million, but this is not the way to go forward.
4. Renault looking good with Hulk only 2nd after TR in clocking number of laps, they are consistently in top 3 in terms of lap time.

I anticipate a new nickname popping up in the F1 chat... Mazespin, anyone?

The photo makes me wonder if it was a wheel bearing or other part failure. It looks like the whole hub came off.

I agree the car looks great.

Surely its the trap between T9 and 10. Those speeds will mean they not even hitting 8th gear. on the main straight I am sure they will hit 8th and not "hide" that amount of speed (and be so good at doing it, that everyone is more or less in the same ballpark)

Important mileage for the TR Honda- that’s their first starting point.

I'm only listening via crappy ear phones, but I don't think the Honda sounds that bad, downshifting maybe, plus I thought initial traction out of the corner was pretty decent??
