Marca has done an article about the comparation between the situation at the tests of how Toro Rosso and Mclaren are performing so far
but before you delete this post I just want to point out what the article points at the end from internal sourcers
that Mclaren is having problems with the packaging of Renault engine and its cooling that's why they are doing short group of laps
but it is early days to be worried.

off course it is. Major part they will not have laying around (nor an option to repaint on site) That got plussed?

edit, Maybe I should have quoted as now we are on a new page (and a different reply is in between) in reply to why we are still seeing the exact same burn marks as yesterday.

Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

It is what it says the article from their sources, i guess it is speculative but can't be far from the truth after seen yesterday run. As the article says early days to panic.

I highly doubt it, they would have found and fixed these problems during their 100km video day.

As if true it is too easy to fix right?

Everything can be fixed, but I highly doubt there is a problem. That loose exhaust probably just caused some damage to other parts. They are just talking about rumors, but I guess we'll find out soon enough. Doing short runs during testing isn't anything special. Were those burnmarks also visible on Monday?

Edit: this was this morning, looks like they are cooling the part where it was overheating.

That´s what the article says, rumours, and even the writer says it´s too soon for rumours. As an spaniard used to read Marca I give that article about 10% credibility

Today in this cold condition the mechanics were cooling that same part when Alosno returned to pits.

This was one day one, go to 3:00.

Been watching some footage from other cars entering the pitlane, but not one of them are in a rush like McLaren, just some brake cooling, nothing more.

yeah.... i think its a problem,

even today after 1 lap the cooling was on, and it was snowing so.. doubt its just an exhaust issue...

i think the engine cover plus maybe too small cooling intakes?!? maybe they were too aggressive?

Yeh, i would say that it is quite unusual to see them cooling the engine box like that. Especially on such a cold day...

It looks iffy for sure but at the same time I'm not sure why they'd be so desperate to do another testing day this week if it was a serious issue.
