Wonder how those interact w the s-ducting. There's a small channel aft of the FW pylons; maybe these lead to inlets.
For all the wording regulating what a nose can be shaped like, the teams have managed to create the most complex F1 noses ever. What is the minimum nose width; and are Mercedes already at it with this iteration? Or can they go narrower still?
I don't think there is a minimum width for the nose, it just has to be be able to accommodate the frontal crash structure.roon wrote: ↑05 Mar 2018, 01:12Wonder how those interact w the s-ducting. What could the benefit be of the chiselled sidepod? Is this a less extreme version of what McLaren were trying in 2011 with the MP4-26?

I've read the article. Vastly exaggerated and judging by the shark fin, it was definitely W08. Massive speculation, and also comparing to the MP4-26, they did the sidepods that way to secure fresh air to aid the EBD, which they tried a couple of versions of conventional designs in testing. However this unique sidepod they used was an experiment which they tried in Australia and all of the sudden it gave them more performance than they've expected. And unfortunately, this is where they've lost their way even though in 2011 were the second best team, coming to 2012 they've changed the concept all together and they were struggling with correlation, they had a competitive car but they didn't understand where the performance was coming from. This lead to 2013 where they came with completely different design philosophy etc...Quantum wrote: ↑05 Mar 2018, 16:19Interesting development if what is pictured is true....
