Possibly they are trying used SS, to really mimic a race start with used quali tyres?
Sounds reasonable to me. And if you compare the times from the first two stints with "laps into the race" which should roughly translate to fuel load, the times are nearly identical on medium tires.

The Autosport live stream said Vettel is increasingly struggling with grip on this stint, but his times are getting consecutively faster so...??? I mean I’ve always suspected they were full of it but like...
Is it not possible for both to be right tho? It could be that he is pushing and on the ragged edge. So it appears as if the car is struggling but pace is increasing.

Another wrinkle to consider when looking at times (even over long stints) is the effect of the 3 engine rule. Teams might want to do sims with the PU at 80% power to simulate a PU approaching the end of its life time. They will know how much time per lap to add or subtract based on power levels/PU life.

Na 39 rondjes Race SIM - Verstappen vs Vettel:

0,5 seconde per rondje verlies voor Max

After 39 laps Race SIM - Verstappen vs Vettel:

17.4 seconds (without in / out laps) advantageously Vettel (SS - M) with respect to Max (M - M), where Max lost 5 seconds more due to traffic.

0.5 seconds per round loss for Max

Verstappen lost time due to this rather than traffic i feel "Big lockup for Verstappen into the chicane, he makes it into the corner but the rear steps round on him - not quite a half spin, more a quarter spin! Had to get right out of the throttle."

Generally speaking though, when ones tyres are going off one goes slower and it is this crossover (usually) that leads to a pit stop. No?

If you compare the 1st stint of Bottas on Mediums with Vettel's 2nd stint on Mediums, you will see that about starting from lap 10 of Bottas they quite match. So after about 10 laps both had similar lap times.

The difference could be explained by the SS which Vettel started the race sim with (besides other factors of course). Maybe the supersofts turned out to be a really bad tyre in these circumstances. Or the reason is a completely other one we can't know of now.

Is there anything wrong with the McLaren this time?
I am afraid that the right question is if there is anything ok with the team?

The Car is on track, stop this DRAMA!
Sorry dude but most 'onlines' are rather misleading!
I loved the iconic McLaren-Honda
But most of all i love McLaren . After all first contact made with M23 that had a Ford Cosworth PU

Gasly just came back from a long stint. Any times for that stint? Think he will do some pushing as we are towards the end of the day?

I don't have times but from what I could tell watching the lap count he started right after lunch. Went out on softs at 67 laps. Changed to mediums during the stint and ended at 134 laps (67 laps in the stint). Seems like a race sim to me.

Would love to see some times posted. Not sure where to find them.

Interesting...although Vettel started his 2nd stint on lap 12 and Bottas on lap 32.
