3rd Stint on M
Ver 18 laps avg. 1:21,2
Vet 23 laps avg. 1:21,0
Bot 18 laps avg. 1:19,9

Keep in mind that track temp were lower on Bottas' stint
Do you have the overall lap average for Bottas' entire sim? I've got Vet's - excluding pit in/out laps - as 1:21.4.
1:21,2 but Vettel's first stint was on SS
Good to know, many thanks.

I don't think the fact that the first stint was on SS is a factor that will make you 'faster' over a race distance - it's just a strategic comparison over what might be the better ways to run a race. SS should start faster in theory, but not if you're having to nurse them longer to make them last; if you pit earlier, and have to run longer on Meds, that will also slow you down vs. someone who's running a higher proportion of the race on softer tyres. So it's all a strategic choice about what ends up being quicker over the full distance.

So I think the 0.2 per lap is a valid comparison, just that these are two diverging strategies, one of which may be better than the other (also depending on car/tyre characteristics).

Vettel's race sim. Vettel did SS-M-M, whereas Bottas did M-M-M.

Yes, and all the drivers may be running to deltas, we must remember.

Lewis' pace is pretty crappy, Looks like Botas us going to wipe the floor with him this season, he is about a second per lap faster than Lewis in race pace.
When Bottas wipes the floor with Lewis, it's gonna be too late, because by then Sauber will be winning the championship.

Did you exclude the laps in traffic?

I'm out of battery! Only 6% :x

I'm sorry! Hope you enjoyed it! :D
McLaren say it must have been a Honda battery :D
No it's a Renault battery, but they apologise as it must have been from a bad batch... :P

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Do you think that in race sim the fuel loads among the teams differ too or do all of them go with a full tank?

Any idea how the FI medium race pace looks like?

They must be pretty confident in their one lap pace then.

On the contrary I would say that using SS make you slower over the whole race sim.
And i would not say that are different strategies at least not "race" strategies...you can't start on medium in the real race and you can't use always the same tyre

No I didn't exclude them
I got the times from f1debrief.
Ver had two laps in traffic, Vet one and Bot none.
Laps in traffic excluded I get 1:21,15 for Ver and still 1:21,0 for Vet

if a difference exists must be very small.
doing 66 laps requires a full tank

just quickly punched the numbers into a calculator and...
I got Vettel down as 1.22.3 average.
Bottas as 1.21.4

I think Bottas had one traffic lap. Randomly 2 seconds slower on one lap against the laptimes before and after.

True my bad - I had assumed Bottas started on softs to simulate getting out of Q2 on that tyre. So you're right, Bottas' isn't really a true race sim.

The headline times on his final stint look more impressive than Vet's but it's also a shorter stint - so fresher tyres on lightest fuel - so again, the comparison isn't direct.

All that in mind, it's actually very close - much closer than it initially appeared to me when looking at the times superficially.
